Just returned from seeing it. It's better than "The Final Destination" and "Final Destination 2" but not incredible at all. It certainly can't hold a candle to the first film, or the third. I think the series is officially dead in the water. The producer who has most control just doesn't get how to focus on character/tension/mood and relies far too much on the death sequences -- of which there are many good ones but with a fairly lame story stringing them together. They are also dreadful at finding compelling leading actors to do these films. Mary Elizabeth Winstead/Ali Larter/Devon Sawa, etc... those people can at least act. The majority of the actors in these films are just horrible -- and it doesn't help that the scripts for the most recent two are just cringe-worthy (2 as well).

All around it was a worthy effort with some good sequences and a really clever twist but it hardly redeems the series after the abomination that was the 4th film. A missed opportunity. Though the bridge collapse was pretty well shot -- and the 3D was incredibly well done.

1. Final Destination 2
2. Final Destination 5
3. Final Destination 3
4. The Final Destination
5. Final Destination

I never liked the original and hated how it turned into a lame X-Files episode halfway through. When I re-watched the original before the last two entries, I still had the same feeling. I prefer the carnage, dark humor and "straight-forwardness" of the sequels that followed. The only advantage that four has over the first is that it's lightning fast to sit through (75 minutes without credits and the opening credits don't happen until 15 minutes in ).

I saw 5 twice in 3D. Both sets of friends that I went with agreed that it was one of best in the franchise. To point out, I went with friends that prefer the Morgan/Wong entries and those who prefer the Ellis entries.

German cover art. I... don't like. it doesn't suit with the rest of the collection, but then again, neither does "FD FD2 FD3 TFD FD5" in a row

https://images.static-bluray.com/mov...9037_large.jpg

i really hope the US gets the cover art with the collapsing bridge making the skull. that was my favorite poster of every fd movie made, and it looks really well against the first 4

As much as I love the third film, Mary Elizabeth Winstead sucked at acting. I give her A for effort though.

Agreed. That poster was perfection.

Odds are, though, they'll end up using this art across the board. Still, I would have to commend them for using the poster artwork... even if it's not the one I would have liked.

I am suprised that people liked Final Destination 5, I refuse to watch 3, 4, and 5 because it is not the same without Ali Larter so it is my loss

Let's see what kind of career the women from TFD have. A.J. Cook isn't setting the world on fire.

MEW has gone on to work with Tarantino and continues to get some decent work thrown her way. I'm not saying she gives a breathtaking performance but she's far more talented than the leads in those films.
