For BD-RE discs if you choose 2X and it takes 1.5hrs, its because it does verify on the fly at 2X. So it writes at 2X, then verifies at 2X, giving you a 1x overall speed for burning a disc.

The fact that you get a slow burn on a BD-R disc is stumbling. My Nero7 works just fine w/Blu-ray.

I forget if there is a way to turn off verify or not, but you should try that if there is.

Can anyone please report the firmware version in the 5582?

The one in the Panasonic BD player reports firmware K103. I am interested to know if this is the same as the drives for sale without the player
