I will be blind buying this as I never got to see this in theaters I wasnt expecting a very scary film but one that has a decent creepy atmosphere. I have lowered my expectations since reviews from critics and audiences were very mixed I like the cast and I am a big horror fan so I should at very least be entertained by this film.

I found the movie to be very underrated, so I'll be picking this up after a price drop. Too bad the Blu's extra features are so skimpy.

At $20.99, it's worth a blind buy for me.

Would you please find a minute to post whether this has slipcover when you get it? It doesn't appear like it will have one, but I'd like to know for sure.

If not, I certainly might give it a chance when it drops down under $15.

I think Sony typically only includes a slipcover with their BD/DVD/DC combo packs. On top of that, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is a FilmDistrict title being distributed by Sony--so I doubt Sony would pull out all the stops.

Thumbs down Pass.

Imaging to pass on this, I'm not a Katie Holmes fan.

Default come and play with us Sally...

I watched the dvd version from Miramax last night, and the Blu Ray should kick-ass in the transfer as the dvd looked incredible and detailed on an up-converting HD dvd player! I am a huge fan of the 70's original (as cheesy as it is) and this version is decent. I remain firmly seated in the classic camp. Guy Pearce looks bewildered for most of the film and Katie Holmes kinda flounders in the material. The little girl in peril was passable I suppose. I did like the beautiful set design and some of the cinematography. Not a fan of the new nasties either, as they look more like walking rats with bug eyes than anything. Most of the scares were punched sound effects more than the situation.

Really wanted to see this but I'm gonna wait to see what kind of price it'll drop to. If not, it's definitely a strong candidate for BF'12!

I wanna get this, but waiting for the price drop. Seems like it got mixed reviews, but nobody really disliked it. I enjoyed the original, but felt like it was one of the few times a remake could work.

Audiences sure hated it. It got a C- cinemscore and people on Facebook are tearing it apart. i thought it was alright. it was well made but no scares.

Watched it last night. 3.5/5

Its a fun movie but yeah...its not scary. I remember seeing the trailer and there was that bit with the girl crawling underneath the sheets of her bed inch by inch investigating a noise and then it showed a brief glimpse of a creature that made me jump a bit...it was highly effective and it genuinely spooked me. I was hoping the movie would be full of nail-biting moments like that but it wasn't. It was spooky and even a bit disurbing from time to time (especially the opening) but it wasn't scary by any means.

Is it just me of could this movie have been rated PG-13? There were a couple of moments that certainly walked the line to an R rating but nothing I haven't seen in other films. Was there any bad language used in this movie? I can't remember but I don't recall hearing one F-bomb throughout the entire movie.

"Rated R for violence and terror."

I'm guessing because it's a child that's being "terrorized"? If they changed it to a teenage girl, it's an easy PG-13 rating.

I watched this in theatres. And was unsatisfied. They could've went all out with that R rating.

Well, blame Peter Jackson on that one then. He co-wrote and produced it.

Since when do people on facebook decide if a movies good or not. Its freaking facebook! A site about people posting and talking about dumb shit in their statuses or on another's page. I hardly call it a place to look at movie reviews.
