Still, as asked before, how sturdy are these things generally? Can they get their paint scratched easily? Do they break in any way easily?

I only have three so I may not be the best to answer you, but I'll give it a shot. One of mine came with a ding, the other two were perfect. I take good care of mine but have not had any get scratched or dented after I bought them. The pieces are held together with plastic, so breakage is a possibility, but not likely IMO in proper usage.

In any case, it is definitely going to be more durable than the cardboard the regular release will come in.

G1 sucks, but its a trilogy set so whatever I guess.

Where does it say Steelbook and Bestbuy Exclusive on there website?

And when everyone says Universal is a flipper company. Does that mean regardless of the set you buy you will get Flipper Discs?

THe only reason I am getting it is because I want to see it the day it comes out. I still have other versions on pre-order from the other side of the pond.

I can't stand G1 steelbooks. I wish the damn studios could figure this out. Its a blu-ray not a dvd. Put it in bd sized cases.

I hate flippers because you can't sell the dvd's.

I hate flippers because I feel like there is no fail-safe way to hold the disc except very CAREFULLY on the edges, lol.

Is there anyway to determine if these are, in fact, flipper discs? Is there some kind of terminology on the packaging itself that you can look for?

Also, has there been any official pictures of what the discs themselves will look like? I've seen some shots, and they appear to be black, nice and elegant looking ...

... if this is the case, then I don't think I'll be getting the SteelBook, as much as it pains me not to do so.

BB.com doesn't always put "exclusive" and "steelbook" in the item listing until right before release. And if you look closely at the pic, it says "Best Buy exclusive" or something to that effect on the paper slip that goes over the top of the steel. Plus it looks G1 sized in the pic, and it's $10 more than the regular edition.

And if you read the JP Canadian thread you would have seen that the picture on BB.com looks just like the Canadian release...

Looks pretty clear to me.

Damn, damn, damn, damn, daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn! I just cancelled my order for the regular set and got the limited UK set yesterday. Now I have to cancel that and get this! I know I said I wouldn't get a G1 (okay, wouldn't it be much easier to call them DS or BS for DVD Steelbook or Blu Ray Steelbook?), but I'm very happy with the Green Lantern Best Buy steelbook. And having this next to it will just make it look even better. Having the steel look trim to this just makes it look a lot better. The UK looks two plain with the two colors.

This will be a very tough call since it won't be the "biggest" edition. Can you imagine the best buy steelbook in the box set with the statue?

You are correct, they aren't actually BD releases, they're DVDs in a DVD case with a BD in them. It's actually extremely irritating given the market we're in and that it is nearly 2012 yet DVDs still get better editions than BDs.

The Green Lantern steelbook has the Blu-ray logo on the spine, not the DVD logo. Regardless of the size, that makes it a Blu-ray release, IMO.

G1 = DVD Combo set with blu-ray normatter the spin is showing blu-ray logo or whatever.

G1 = FailSteel

I just notice seems a lot BestBuy / US Steelbook is DVD Steelbook! What a ...!
