I sent an email to disney movie club canada earlier this week asking where to look for promo codes. They said they would send me a catalogue with a promo code included. Not sure what to expect (if anything) but if it turns out to be something better than what is currently offered on the website, I'll let everyone know.

So I received my catalogue in the mail yesterday and it included an imrpoved offer via promo code 19215D. The offer is you get to choose 5 introductory titles for $2 with a commitment to purchase 4 regular priced titles over the next 2 years. You can take advantage of a 6th title for $14.95 which leaves you with 3 more to purchase (a 7th title is also an option for $9.95 but doesn't count towards your commitment).

Relative to the default offer, you get one more intro selection (for an additional $1) and one less commitment title.

This was enough to get me to join.

So now it works out to approximately,

$2 for 5 titles
$15 for 1 title
$35(approx)+5(Shipping) for 3 titles

For a total of (2+15+120)*ON tax = 155

About 17 with tax per title. Not too shabby

That's about right. You could also get another into title for $10 if you wanted which would bring your average cost a little lower.

Thanks for the promo code. I used it to enroll, but even though I ordered the 6th title, it still says I need to purchase 4 more. I have sent them a message to get it sorted out, but if I don't hear from them soon I will give them a call.

I called them earlier today on this and they said you won't see the reduction reflected on the webiste until the initial titles are shipped and you cc is charged.

Does it count towards your committment as it is less than $35? By the way, it looks like 9645D is another code with the identical offer.

According to the U.S. users, the discounted title of the month counts toward your commitment. I might call later to confirm that, though.

I called today and confirmed that the $29.95 (+$4.95 shipping) Lady and the Tramp 2-disc edition preorder does count toward the purchase requirements and that my 6th title will count after it has shipped. Given that Lady and the Tramp is $32.99 at Amazon.ca, the pricing is not too bad. After my initial shipment and Lady and the Tramp, I'll only have to buy 2 more. I was already planning on getting The Muppets, which I'm assuming will also be $29.95, and then I'll only need to get one more. So my total cost for 10 Disney movies, including 3 new releases, should be about $137.45 assuming I can get all of my fulfilment titles for $29.95. Not bad at all considering the usual prices of Disney movies in Canada.

Do they offer any exclusives with their movies? Like lithographs?

I know they wouldn't have SteelBooks or IronPacks.

Not that I've seen. They have some special limited edition versions of things for a premium price. For example, they have The Lady and the Tramp Collector's set for $79.95 that includes:
- Limited Special Packaging
- DVD Blu-ray Combo Pack
- Certificate Of Authenticity
- Collectible 3-D Card

So basically $50 gets you fancier packaging, a 3-D card and a certificate. The packaging appears to be big boxy cardboard and not worth $50 by any stretch of the imagination.
They have some Valentine cards and stickers available with select releases right now too, but nothing all that special. The other offer they have now is that if you purchase a Blu-ray for $34.95 or more, any other titles are 33% off. Given that most of the Blu-rays are $34.95 and up, the additional ones would be roughly $23.45 each.

So other than the cheap initial enrolment titles, there isn't a lot of incentive for joining. Still, the cheap titles were enough incentive for me.

Thanks. I can understand wanting the lower prices, but I really like the SteelBook/IronPack/MetalBox packages from Future Shop.

I also like the lithographs offered from The Disney Store.

The exclusives for THE LADY AND THE TRAMP sound okay, but not worth an extra $50 premium, that's for sure!

There is another option that I have been using, and that is Amazon China. They are having a Disney BD sale right now, and their BDs are all $8 CDN equivalent. With shipping, it works out to an effective price of $14 CDN. They are all legit BDs as far as I can tell, but they do not offer exclusives either. They do offer Asian language dubbing though which, from Disney, is excellent.

I know the US version of the Disney movie club has A Bug's Life Blu-Ray in a limited edition tin case with a numbered certificate of authenticity. It's $24.95 on the site at regular price. Not sure how the selection is for the Canadian version.

Thanks! I figured they'd probably would. I currently have my Pixars separated and they all have slips, except for Toy Story 3 which is an IronPak, and any without would stick out. The only other Disney BD I have is Tangled, but if I joined I'd probably throw them all together.

I just joined yesterday and my first order (the 5 for $2.00 and 2 bonus) is still processing. I made an order today for the Lady & the Tramp and another movie.

It's not showing that I have made any purchases towards my commitments, however I believe it will once they ship. If they update the system when they ship them, I should only need to buy 1 more to complete my commitment.
