Disney Movie Club Canada

Disneymovieclub.ca is finally offering Blu-rays for enrollment selections. The default offer is that you get 4 now for $1 and have to purchase 5 in the future. The US club has a code available to bring the future purchase requirement down to 3. Does anyone know if such a code exists for the Canadian site?

The latest promo code seems to be 47703. The offer is you get to choose 5 introductory titles for $2 with a commitment to purchase 4 regular priced titles over the next 2 years. You can take advantage of a 6th title for $14.95 which leaves you with 3 more to purchase (a 7th title is also an option for $9.95 but doesn't count towards your commitment).

I think it still ends up being expensive.
As per the agreement, you need to purchase 5 movies at regular price (34.99 and up) + 4.95 shipping.
5 x (34.99 + 4.95) x 1.13 (HST) = 225
+ 1 for 4 movies = 226
/ 9 movies total = $25 per movie

Might be able to save a few $$$ by ordering all 5 movies at once and save on shipping but not that great of a deal IMO to be tied with a contract

You can do better if you are able to take advantage of their initial bonus offer (5th title for 14.95 and 6th title for 9.95) leaving you with 3 left to buy at reg price. It transaltes to about $18 a title after 13% HST and shipping fees.

I don't think the discounted 5th and 6th count towards the 5 that you need to purchase. You will still need to buy 5 @$40 shipped.

Just looked at the Membership Details section and we were both incorrect. The 5th does count (leaves you with 4 remaining) but the 6th does not.

They have enough of a selection for me to join but I will wait until the new year to see if a promo code surfaces and also see if any of the titles I am eyeing will be on sale over the holidays.

I've been thinking about joining as they have a number of exclusive DVDs listed on there that are not sold in stores, and I don't think these titles will be getting Blu-Ray releases anytime soon; movies like Ten Who Dared, etc.

Very glad to see that Disney Movie Club is now shipping Blu-ray's to Canada but I will definitely need a promo code or better selection prior to signing up for the current deal. $20+ is still too much for some of these movies.

No. At present, only residents of Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec) can be Members of Disney Movie Club Canada.

Well, I think this could be a pretty good deal for someone missing a lot of Disney titles.

I would also suggest that those looking to join review the massive US thread dedicated to the club. After reading the thread, you will notice that there are many more introductory eligilble titles not shown that can be added by adjusting the URL's. For example, the incredibles, dumbo, Winnie the pooh, pirates OST, etc all work.

Same here. Beauty and the beast BD/DVD steelbook last year 19.99. Lion King 3D combo pack 16.99 (BB mistake ) last month.

I've been looking everywhere for a promo code equivalent to the one posted in the US thread that gives 5+2 titles and reduces the required purchases to 3. So far no luck.

I'm still tempted to subscribe anyway since the unit price without any promo is still $18. I'll wait for the new year, maybe something will come up.

Any of you with access to a US mailing address might want to give the US Disney Movie club a shot. I thought i'd give it a try after reading through the posts on the main board and my application was actually processed and my introductory selections have shipped out. I have 7 Disney animation titles on the way for a cost of just under $23 Canadian. I have 2 more titles to buy at $29.95 or higher to fulfill my commitment. Also, 3D titles are available for your obligation titles, they are priced at $39.95, but they have pretty much all of them including: Nightmare Before Christmas, Bolt, Meet The Robinsons, Toy Story 1,2,3, Lion King, etc. So after buying 2 more titles at $29.95 U.S.+$3.95 shipping, i figure the 9 titles will come out to approximately $10.40 Canadian each after conversion. Pretty sweet deal for people looking for Disney because you can even get titles such as Cars 2, The Lion King, Beauty and The Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, etc as part of your initial offer.
