It was originally coming out in September, however Fox have since pulled it.

It may still come out this year though or the titles in the box set that have yet to get a Blu-ray release will come out seperately.

I will keep this thread updated whenever I know of anything about it.

I think the big issue for me is how well have these been restored. South Pacific and The Sound of Music are already out and look great, but these other movies have not seen releases in any countries by the looks of it. What condition are those films in?

I assume that they are in similar condition to the above sources, and since they had to do quite a detailed restoration on those for the blu, each film probably needs the same amount of effort. On DVD the only one I remember looking slightly worse is probably State Fair, which makes sense as it is the oldest.

I recently talked with Fox about these releases, and they have all been restored using the original elements, so they should all be first class discs. Carousel and King and I were restored from the Cinemascope 55 elements!!!! I did not get any release information. I want them yesterday!

Default Here's hoping they RESTORED Oklahoma!

The last dvd (50th Anniversary) release of Oklahoma! was a disaster. While it was nice to have a good print of the CINEMASCOPE (24 FPS, 2.55:1 version of the film, the Original, FAR superior 70MM TODD-AO (30 Frames per Second, 2.20:1) was a disaster.

The previous, non-anamorphic print of the Todd-AO version on DVD was a superior copy than the 50th Anniversary dvd, which looked as if it had been dragged through the mud.

The 70MM version of the film is the preferred version not only of the film makers, but also of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.

I truly hope the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization upholds their rights and demands 20th Century Fox withhold release of the Todd-AO version of Oklahoma! on Blu-Ray until a FULL and PROPER restoration of the film has been made.

Contact Ted Chapin, head of the R&H Organization to express your concerns:

If you've not seen the 70mm, Todd-AO version of this film, on Blu-Ray it would be worth the wait.

Fox---don't screw it up.

Absolutely correct on all counts Wikley. That Todd-AO transfer, well I don't know how it ever saw the light of day on DVD, it was a disaster.

I can tell you this much, which is all I know from a discussion with Fox: Fox is very well aware of that edition and its problems and have faith in Fox-look at their classic releases, especially of South Pacific and The Sound of Music. The Todd-AO will be corrected, and aside from that I do know that the King and I and Carousel will have the Cinemascope 55 negatives used. Those should be absolutely stunning as well! Now,,WHERE ARE THEY? I want them yesterday.

Hope they do a full 8k Scan, anything less would be unnerving considering the amount of detail in Cinemascope 55 film elements.

I hope that they all have lossless soundtracks regardless of the version. The roadshow version of South Pacific on Blu-ray was a disappointment there.

The only blu musical boxset I found was this one
no mention of the Fox one. Such a shame as I really like State Fair, hopefull they'll release them separately.

Everytime I see this thread on the front page, I get excited thinking that a release date has been announced. And everytime I come in here, I get that same sad tinge of disappointment

What exactly is the hold up with this now? I've already got all the films in that boxset shown above. I still need to watch The Sound Of Music and Fiddler On The Roof

I also wouldn't mind if Mary Poppins got released soon
