Well, let's get the thread rolling! This is a huge announcement for me personally as these are all "gold" titles in my book, top big screen classics.

I wonder if they are going to sell The King and I, Carousel, Oklahoma and State Fair separately. Most musical fans probably already own The Sound of Music and South Pacific.

My thought, too. This is BIG news for Blu-Ray.

Wow. The DVD of Oaklahoma is embarrasingly bad. I'd love a proper restoration and transfer of BOTH the 35mm and Todd-AO version. And the King and I... woohoo!

Please oh Please do sound transfers for large-format films from the 6-track masters and *not* from downmixes for 35mm prints!!!!!

I'll gladly join the chorus:

Very happy to hear this announcement,

and very much hoping the other films in this set have received the kind of attention TSoM got.

I don't have South Pacific yet, but I know the UK Sound of Music is region free, so maybe there's hope the others will follow suit.

United Kingdom Rodgers and Hammerstein Box set Blu-ray

Great news for me have been waiting years for this although would prefer if they released them on blu ray individually as well as I already have South Pacific and The Sound of Music, sincerely hope they have both versions on 'Oklahoma!' on blu-ray perhaps were might get a longer version of 'The King and I' with the song 'I Have Dreamed' re-instated and perhaps a longer version of 'Carousel' with some of the cut songs restored.
But in any case as Rodgers & Hammerstein's collaboration is my avocation, I will be purchasing this whatever. Brilliant musicals I have had copies of these films since VHS days The Sound of Music released by Magnetic video in 1980! does anyone still remember them? before 20th Century Fox started releasing any of their films even on video.

didn't Fox get reemed by the Rodgers and Hammerstein estates over the shoddy Todd AO transfer of "Oklahoma!" to DVD - It's not surprise Fox is getting shit over the West Side Story bluray debacle, not using 6-track masters is a huge mistake in my book.

Angry Amazon UK cancelled my pre-order

I pre-ordered this box set regardless of my owning Sound of Music and South Pacific on Blu-ray because for the price, they came out to about just under $10 per movie. The boxed set with shipping to the US was about $54. I placed the order last week, and was accepted. Today, they sent me an e-mail cancelling my pre-order because it is "no longer available from the manufacturer". This sounds a bit strange, and it may be a marketing strategy to increase the price. Now it appears on the website as not availbale for ordering yet. Has any one had a similar experience?

i just got the email as well, sayin they cancelled it. to me that is such bs, now they better not come up with a higher pre order price or I am going to have to see if they will honor the original price I preordered at

Same with me, smells a bit toxic this, was it mis-priced or have Fox made another foo pa!!!! It has gone missing with no message from Play.com as well.

Pheraps the retailers were abit 'too' quick in putting it up for pre-order.

Or maybe Fox have changed their mind's on something like the release date or content.

Im sure it'll be available to order once again soon.

It's a shame, whenever this does come out, that Fox did not make a deal with Universal to include Flower Drum Song. They made a deal with Warner to add Blazing Saddles to the Mel Brooks set. Now I fear we may be waiting years before we see Flower Drum Song on Blu-ray, unless Universal gets smart and releases it on the same day as this set, but I have high doubts.
