Universal movies on Blu-ray

Did somebody know, that you kan buy movies from Universel (HD-DVD exklusive) on blu-ray at www.amazon.de?

Yes. Concorde and other distributors have rights to distribute titles which maybe exclusive to one format in one country maybe released in another format elsewhere. There are also a few Paramount titles available in Germany with English Audio.

I don't see any reference to regional restrictions. Has someone confirmed this will play in all regions (or North America)?

US actors / movies are great!

i don´t like german movies / actors at all...

And i don´t like dubbing! that´s why i only watch movies on english...

It's not distributed by Universal in Germany, they have no rights or control over the distribution many movies in other countries.

12 Monkeys are distributed by Concorde. They are distributing the following region free Blu-ray titles in Germany:

12 Monkeys - Distributed in USA by Universal
Alpha Dog - Distributed in USA by Universal
The Jackal - Distributed in USA by Universal

Black Christmas - Distributed in USA by Weinstein

Tomb Raider - Distributed in USA by Paramount
Tomb Raider 2 - Distributed in USA by Paramount
We were Soldiers - Distributed in USA by Paramount

Phantom of the Opera - Distributed in USA by Warner

Silent Hill - Distributed in USA by Sony

I personally own The Jackal and 12 Monkeys and can confirm that they are region free. Another "Universal"-movie that is available region free on Blu-ray is U-571 which I also own. It is distributed by Entertainment in Video in UK.

Concordes discs have so far included both the original soundtrack and a German soundtrack. Can't see why it would be different this time. According to Amazon.de it also looks like two tracks this time:

You must mean without original English Audio. Discs without English Audio do exist (Pan's Labyrinth, Infernal Affairs etc.) but I know of no Blu-ray disc without the original soundtrack. Blu-ray does have storage space for it and several other tracks as well.

Hi, can you confirm that U-571 is region free please...I've got a R1 player and when I recently tried Gangs of New York which is also a Entertaiment In Video UK title, it would'nt play so I held off getting U-571.

Yes, I can confirm that U-571 is region free just like Next and Days of Glory. I have played it in my Region A Playstation 3.

I have been thinking about ordering Gangs of New York just to check the region coding on that disc but it seams like I don't have to now. I already own Gangs of New York on DVD and I don't want to double dip on too many discs.

I own both a region A and a Region B PS3 but plays almost all my movies on the region A PS3.

I frequently order HD DVD imports(movies that were only released on BlueRay here in North America)from Exploited Video's web site.I don't know if they are stocking import BlueRay movies but it might be worth it to check.
