Oh well. Good thing I don't watch special features. Because now I can just buy single disc movie only blu-rays from warner brothers.

What about other studios? They will still offer regular discs for each format. Right?
They better.

If true, I will be finding alternative methods for acquiring WB-released BDs. I.e. the Blu-ray only release, Canada (released by Alliance frequently), the UK (required to have ratings info on the actual disc, meaning flippers aren't allowed due to absense of space for the rating logo), etc.

Hate hate hate flipper discs. There is nothing more frustrating than paying good money for a disc and having it freeze mid-movie, something that has happened all too often with a very high percentage of flipper discs I have ever purchased.

WB is my favorite studio but if this happens on all of their upcoming new releases, that's going to piss me completely off....

Now is the time for my semi-obligatory but much-loved statement, on idiotic decisions like this...

FLIPPER DISCS SUCK, AND SO DO STUDIOS THAT SUPPORT THEM...PERIOD.

Another winning decision by WB. First hardly no features, now this.

I'm sorry but the only evidence to support this is Harold and Kumar. There is nothing in that link that says all warner releases will be flippers other than the thread title and the fact that Harold and Kumar will be one. Don't start worrying just yet people.

You know why they're doing this.........because people sell the DVD copy at ebay making money while the studios lose money

The last thing I want to do is buy The Dark Knight Rises without the special features...because I'll refuse buying the combo pack if the feature disc is flipper.

What the hell WB?

UK import, here I come...

*yawn, who really cares a lot of people on here will, but 99% of the rest of the world won't give a crap

as for reliability, except for a few issues with HD DVD in it's early stages (that were fixed later on) I've NEVER had a flipper blu or flipper dvd crap out on me. I put them in my player and they play fine, I put them back in the case afterwards and they dont' scratch. seriously, flippers, slip covers, digital copies ... people on here can get so OCD on here I wonder if I'm actually on a site that discusses MOVIES and not just a packaging site.

Exactly I have never had a problem either. As long as I can still get my movie on blu I can care less what way they want to do it.

I agree 100%. The thread on DVDtalk does not say that WB is going that route for all upcoming releases and there has not been any official announcement regarding this from WB either. So I guess it's just one movie only probably to see if people like it or not.

Even if they do flippers for all upcoming releases, you could still get BD only for WB titles and they won't be flippers obviously.

I really hope they don't do flippers for The Dark Knight Rises, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and The Hobbit movies.

All other new releases I don't care.

The only thing more boring than complaints about flippers or eco cases or the like are the obligatory 'well I just care about the movies' responses.
