Why do it there when they could have just as easily done it here for the same reasons.
As has already been mentioned, they didn't distribute it worldwide, most notably in the US, where Fox released it.

Having seen the uncut version, I don't see what the problem is.
There are far worse levels of violence visible in other movies of a similar rating.

apparently the 7.1 sound mix that was featured in the cinema was an exclusive - neither Universal international or Fox' US release video releases are encoded as such.

Apparently the US version is uncut, but the disc is Region A locked. Not a problem if you have a multi-region player!

Thank you. Though it is a shame Universal didn't release the 18 rated version on home video. They probably wouldn't have lost much money if they had. I guess they couldn't be bothered.

Uncut works not being released in a particular region is frustrating, but the BBFC give the ratings they do based on lots of research and audience feedback, and they are at least transparent in what they cut and why. The US rating system actively stops films being released at all because most chains won't show NC-17 films so a film like Shame will be released here with our highest rating at a multiplex like any other film, but in the US it's chances are severely limited to a great extent and if you ask me this is far more damaging to artistic freedom than the UK ratings system. Added to that the MPAAs comparative lack of transparency, slightly secretive nature, and record of having a bigger problem with things like male nudity and non-heterosexual non-monogamous sex, and you have a far more problematic system in general.

When it comes to home video releases, I don't think they are lawfully required to rate things, hence loads of 'uncut' versions that come out, which is great for seeing the films uncut but also doesnt make much sense since they are much easier for underage kids to get hold of than a film at the cinema.

I'm amazed at Universal not taking the chance to release and 18 rated BD, with some ridiculous tagline on the cover, along the lines of 'FULL UNCUT VERSION, WHAT YOU DIDN'T SEE IN CINEMAS'.

I mean, surely they have an uncut master available from one of their other territories.

Lazy bar-stewards.

I really dont see what the big deal is about 18 secs... I mean it prolly takes longer if you get up from the couch and walk to your kitchen. This is my opinion, i just dont see what the big deal is about 18 secs, you can prolly only say a sentence length in that time

Oh, behave. One of the cuts is in the middle of a line of dialogue and is completely stupid.

That's a very dangerous approach to censorship, I must say.

18 seconds can completely ruin an entire movie. It may not sound that long, but it doesnt have to be 18 seconds in a single scene.

I gave this example a while ago,

But lets imagine Predator being cut for 18 seconds.

Examples:
[Show spoiler]

1. the scene where they find hopper. Just like the tv edited, billy opens the leaves and then....nothing. A few seconds sure, but what a scene that was cut right?

2. All the violent kills the predator makes cut.

You can keep on going....notice how each of those scenes can be just a few seconds in length? Now to me that would be huge. It would be called, Predator: Care Bear Edition.

Censored and cut version of movies are absolutely pure junk and garbage. There is no arguement, not even price point that can make justification of it. That's like going on 2 roller coasters, where the one you experienced here in NA had a great loop and the one in the UK took that out because they thought it was too scary. Otherwise they are the same roller coasters and advertised the same except in the fine print. I'll be sure to demand a refund at Guest Services for the cut one though.

Essentially the UK edited should be called, Immortals: Care Bear Edition actually....

how come if the Australian version is uncut its also got a 15+ certificate?

maybe their 15+ is an UK equivalent to 18 lol.

anyway Australian or USA the prices are just plain stupid for the 3d version yet UK 3d edition is dirt cheap maybe they cant shift the stock lol

just saying

from what i have seen most prices for Australian & USA 3D version are between £15-£20 and that includes delivery to uk

while UK counter part which is cut is around £10+ delivery.

the amazon.com is region A only so i cant get that due to no region free player....that is priced £15.55 inc delivery at the checkout.

http://www.ezydvd.com.au is approx £18.50 inc delivery

http://www.secondspin.com are just slightly higher than amazon.com due to delivery costs but i do not like the sound of their international delivery as they post without cases judging from the postage info.

anyway lol..

i am kind of limited to the uncut region B Australian version.
the cheapest i have found is £14.53+(£3.36 del) about the price of a UK Disney 3D Blu-ray...guess that is the one im getting...

P.S... must be nice living in America/Canada where blurays are really cheap cheap

Just looked up what the changes and cuts were for the release in the UK. So basically their version vs the US version is like Mortal Kombat I on the Super Nintendo vs Mortal Kombat I on the Sega Genesis.

I find it hilarious they think red blood to black is less violent in some way.

That's for CDs. I've been using them quite a bit recently, (good discount codes running every month), and all my items have arrived in the UK fully intact, some of them brand new.
