I can't wait until next Friday when Blu-ray stomps HD-DVD into the ground... Transformers is going down baby!

I am glad that blu ray is killing hd dvd in amazon.com. I hope that pirates overtake transformers. I just read the review in hidef digest on transformers of course almost perfect. My question is how can you give 5 stars to hidef sound is if don't have true hd or pcm only just dolby digital plus?

bracke said this "Note that although I'm giving this audio mix five stars, that doesn't mean I agree with Paramount's decision to forgo high-res audio on this title. Without a TrueHD or PCM mix to compare this one to, there's no way of telling how much better such a track might have been, but based on the upgrade I've seen with other titles, I'm guessing a high-res mix could well have trounced this one. That's not to take anything away from this truly exceptional mix, but this is one case where I think you truly can improve upon perfection"

then he should not given the sound 5 stars because is not Hd soound. Hd sound is True HD, DTD HD MA or PCM.

Wouldn't it be funny if FOX decided to to a 2 for 1 next week and Sony decided to do the same, the week after? HD DUD would be in ruins, but so would my bank account!

such absolute wank.. Paramount said they picked HD DVD cause they didnt need the extra capacity of blue ray.. then they openly admit this:

"
Indeed, I had the opportunity to attend a special 'Transformers' media event with Paramount late last week, and the question was asked almost immediately -- why no Dolby TrueHD or uncompressed PCM? The studio's answer was that due to space limitations on the disc, the decision was made to limit the audio to Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround only (here at 1.5mbps). Unfortunately, this confirms the long-held theory that the 30Gb capacity of an HD-30 dual-layer HD DVD disc has forced studios to choose between offering a robust supplements package (as they've done here) and the very best in audio quality. "

such a bunch of ball washing bastards.. if we had a blue ray release it would have had at least a dolby true hd track if not PCM..

Everyone was invited to the TF event at Paramount. It was not a "stroke the shills" thing

Junkets like that are SOP for a big title

Everyone keeps looking at Amazon and Blu-ray is doing great. And then people say, that Amazon sales don't really matter much on the Nielson rankings, but, everyone must also remember that these sales are also going on at Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and a few others. So, it is not just Amazon. Did anyone else notice that the Sale is not going on at places that are not counted in the Nielsen rankings? I haven't heard of a sale going on at Wal-Mart or dvdempire.com or dvdplanet.com or any of those other places. Has anyone seen these sales anywhere else? Looks like Disney and Sony want them to really count!

Dont forget, although amazon figures arent a great way to extrapolate data...this BOGOF deal is at Best Buy as well....which sells THE MOST HDM......so we actually can expect this to be very large in next weeks rankings. amazon was, what, 4th or something in the report.....so you have to think that less people are buying discs at amazon on the whole, which means if Bd is destroying HD DVD on amazon we should expect it to be the same in B&M.

I didn't enjoy it either, but I bought it cause it's half price, it will go with my Pirates 1, t's supposed to have the best PQ, and I think I was in a bad mood when I watched it originally. I checked it out last night, it did look really nice. Oh yeah, and Keira being in the movie doesn't hurt.

I don't know about anyone else, but i ask myself how is it that HD-DVD can keep going. The beating they are taking world wide, the beating they are taking here in the states and the beating they are about to endure here and else where with the holiday releases!

Throw in the towel PLEASE!

One thing to consider before getting too excited about these numbers... the gap between the #5 title and the #8 title could be HUGE. #5 could have sold 30,000 copies, and #8 just 5,000. The disparity could be even larger than that. Now if Pirates gets above TF, that'd be extremely significant. But as long as it's ranked lower you should assume a big gap in total sales.

It's possible the cumulative effects of all these sales will overtake TF, but I still don't fell it's likely. TF will probably sell 100K copies all by itself. Given the small volume of HD sales, that's a big number to overcome.

I agree that Pirates 2 was not all that great, but I really enjoyed it on blu. The visual quality is outstanding as you said but the audio just about had me in tears at times. I swear I could count each rain drop from the wedding in the begining. Oh yea and lets not forget the KRAKEN!

If Transformers is 1 and Pirates is 2, what does the 5 on Transformers and 9 on Pirates mean?

Thank You!

I put in my order at Amazon for POTC 1 & 2. I wasn't going to buy these cause I heard that the movies were just OK and not really worth buying (I haven't seen either yet). When I saw the Disney offer, I figured what the heck, gotta be worth it for that.
