Default Friday the 13th part 13 in the works... Ignoring remake and using part 4 as template

Well, Friday the 13th part 13 (we finally made it to the 13th film in the 13th series) is in the pipeline. Discussions have begun.

The first idea has come out as of November 30th 2012. You can find the news at fridaythe13thfranchise.com.

Warner has been pitched the idea. I never thought this was possible anymore, but it's a continuation off the original series, not a reboot or sequel to the remake.

The idea involves Tommy Jarvis returning and the movie having a lot of people who worked on Friday the 13th 4 work on the movie. Writer, etc...

I just knew there would be a Friday the 13th part 13 !! I realy hope its not a continuation of Jason X. That movie was abysmal but some of the kills were good.

Hmmm interesting. I always wanted them to bring back some of the main people that lived from parts 2-4 including Genny from part 2. She was supposed to have been in part 3 originally but her agent convinced her otherwise and to this day she regrets it. Got Em!!

As much as that sounds good to get Corey back as Tommy, it would seem funny as they already had 2 different people play an older Tommy in parts 5 & 6. Got Em!!

as great as it all sounds in theory, im far to cynical to believe that this would turn out good if it even happened. but id love to be proven wrong. Final Chapter is easily my favorite of the series.

I've said before and I'll say again: there is another good film to be made in the Friday the 13th series but it isn't in the continuation of the long extinct franchise, it's in a new remake. There needs to be the heart of the original coupled with new modern sensibilities -- the recent remake lacked either and wasn't even a passable film, let alone a great remake.

And may I remind anyone hating on Jason X that this exists, and is possibly one of the most completely badass ways to murder anyone ever:

Nice video but here is the original kill from Part VII where they got the idea from for Jason X. Got Em!!

Although keeping in mind it was a deliberate holodeck parody, set as a trap.
(And an uncharacteristic self-aware dip into retro camp-kitsch, for one of the most up till now clunkily humorless/campless franchises in horror until Freddy came along...)

It's hard to bring product-of-his-time Jason back after anyone looking for "slasher" starts getting that clever Scream/Cabin cultural-deconstruction look in their eyes.

Dude's been busy recently - between these possible lies and the complete garbage he spewed about Star Wars and looking like Harrison Ford, you'd swear he'd got back on the drugs.

Or maybe he's just feeling nostalgic lately.

Interesting, very surprised they are ignoring the remake. I didn't really like the remake so this could be good....

This really has to be taken with a grain of salt. Until something is officially 'greenlit' by Warner Bros, I'm not putting any stock into this.

I was actually hoping for a sequel to the remake... sure, the remake wasn't great but it was just as ridiculous as the rest of the series.

I personally think they should make a new Friday movie without distinguishing it as a continuation or remake. I didn't really care for the remake, but I would love a new Friday film. Just keep Platinum Dunes away from it.

Okay. I hate when they pretend other movies didn't exist.

I also wanted a sequel to the reboot.

I seriously doubt this will come to pass. Will there be another movie? Almost certainly. But I don't see a return of the Jarvis character being a big motivating factor for WB.

Some films just need to be forgotten for a reason...
