Not even to mention Tokyo Gore Police

To me, Japan pulls this off really well. Hollywood certainly tries with things like Machete and Hobo With A Shotgun....but never gets it quite right.

I have yet to see The Hunger Games, but i like this genre, so i'm sure i'll enjoy that film, too. I'm just so sick of PG-13...:banghead:
See, to me, that's where the HG missed a trick. It needed to show the violence and killing instead of implying it. I would've enjoyed it had they shown the violence.

Obviously, I'm not promoting violence but if you're going to make a film about people having to kill each other, then you need to show the violence, regardless of whether or not its kids/teenagers involved.

Why all the fuss?
Have you seen any film released in Hollywood from the past 70 years? Basically every film they make is a set of blueprints (one for each genre), filled with differing characters, locations and dialogue segments. Most of them are about as unoriginal as they come.

I quite liked The Hunger Games, though -- thought it was a very well-made film that understood the tone it was trying to achieve.

I have seen many a film from the past 70 years lol!

And it would be naive to say that EVERY film is unique.

My argument was that this film was critically acclaimed, gained lots of reputation, awards etc. whereas the condemned was slated and hated, whereas for me, they were both as entertaining as each other.

Exactly. I don't "need" violence in a film to really enjoy it, but if the subject matter is something like this, there should be an abundance of it. I have yet to see The HG, but i think i'll just pass on it and watch BR again, instead.

You guys need to stop judging the film based off it's PG-13 rating, they DO show the violence. They DO show the blood.

You do see people getting stabbed, coughing out blood, all of it. If you want even more gore then you're no different than people from the Capitol (watch the movie and you'll understand)
