Let's all give him a break. Afterall, I doubt Boromir cared much about picture quality, himself.

I have no interest in 3D and prefer separate discs for 2D and 3D.

I also prefer separate discs for multi-title sets. Cramming too much data on a single disc reeks of 'three steps forward, two steps back'.

I think the Dredd movie uses a different technique for creating a 3d version of the film verses what the typical 3d movie gets released uses. So, the PQ/AQ shouldn't suffer. If I am understanding the process of rendering 3d versions for home viewing.

Wouldn't you get better transfers for each the 2D an 3D version had separate disks?

Having them separate makes it possible to sell one version and bring the cost down by about half or more. That's the difference between picking up something on release date or waiting months for a sale.

Well, I, for one, watch BDs, because of superior picture and sound quality.
That's the WHOLE point! So, it DOES matter to me.

We should feel this way?? Thanks for letting us know.

Bad idea!

I don't want 3-D, and they should always be kept separately, as I would hate to see the quality of the presentation suffer.

Also, then they can just say 3-D is popular, because the only way you can get the 2-D version is by buying the 3-D along with it. Stupid!

I am sick and tired of all the 3-D combo packs, that have more special features than the 2-D edition, so if you care about special features you have to get the 3-D edition, if though you can't stand 3-D!

They can only play these games for so long with me!!

As long as you can fit both versions on one BD50 without compromising the quality, I am good. I watched Dredd the other night and I thought the PQ was good.

It does have the 2d version on it. Maybe if sales are good, they might release a 2d only disc later on, but for now the 3d and 2d versions on same will have to do. As far as 3d, it hasn't come close to making me follower, with animated films aside, only one film that have seen 3d that was actually good in that format was when I saw it in the 3d. The others just didn't look good or natural looking.

Depends on how the disc is encoded.

Personally, I'd prefer to have two separate disc. Not so much on video quality, but rather picture optimization.

What I mean of course, is to adjust the brightness to compensate for the 3D glasses.

Having 3D and 2D on the same disc means you can only optimize one or the other. Not both.
