Yeah I was there live in Louisville. Probably one of the best live matches I ever saw. Interestingly probably one of the worst matches I ever saw live (Razor Ramon vs. 123 Kid loser get put in a Diaper match) was on the same card. I think it's included on the best of the 90's DVD put out a few years back.

The main reason is outside of Jeff Jarrett (sometimes), none of them could cut a promo to save their life...Ahmed Johnson stumbled over his words and mumbled like nobody else...he and Ken Shamrock had the look, but couldn't talk...

This doesn't really apply to those guys, but injuires can have a huge impact on careers too. A lot of guys who get injured before a big push never make it back up to the same place they were after healing. Brutus the Barber Beefcake was suppossed to get the IC belt back in '89 and got injured, and Warrior ended up getting the belt, and then the second time he up for the the belt in 1990 he ended up geting his face shattered by a boat (or somekind of water vehicle)!!!

like Hogan could cut a decent promo

"Well, i tell you brother, if you want to mess with me Jack, you mess with all the Hulkamanias brother. You want to fight me brother, you fight all of us brother. By air brother, by sea, the Hulkamanias keep coming and you can never defeat us Jack."

get them managers. Look at Punk and Heyman right now. Punk can talk but adding Heyman makes it that much better. give these guys a manager who can talk so they don't need to.

Well at the time the crap Hogan was saying was what the audience wanted to hear. In comparison to the top faces from that time (Ultimate Warrior!!!), Hogan sounded like a Harvard Professor. Jake the Snake was probably the only good guy who would cut a compelling promo in the mid-late 80's WWF. Most of the performers with good mic skills were heels (Rowdy Roddy Piper, Million Dollar Man, Mr. Perfect, Honkey Tonk Man, Rick Rude, etc...).

Hogan was passionate though. You could feel the intensity and energy in his promos! You hardly get that nowadays from anybody.

Crisgo said it best:

man if this promo didn't make you beg your parents to get the pay per view, i dont know what will

Nice cover and the better years of the then WWF with matches from the New Generation heading into the Attitude Era. Just like the Best of the King of the Ring set, I'm all in for this set too. Good to see releases of older PPV's and matches on bluray.

Looking at the cover really makes it apparent the talent gap between now and then. This has definitely been added to my list.

Curious if these are unedited and have the old WWF logo at the bottom corner during the matches? Haven't followed wrestling in over twelve years but thought this set would be a nice trip down memory lane since since the 90's was a fun time for wrestling!

If I remember right I think I read something about the WWE not having to edit their old logos anymore and can now also have audio where WWF is said by name unedited. Plus it was also only ever the scratch logo that needed to be edited.

That's correct. They no longer have to blur any logos or censor themselves anytime they say "WWF"

I'll be watching this this weekend and give my thoughts on this classic set of matches. It's time to take another exciting trip down WWF's memory lane!

Block & Scratch logo along with "WWF" being said on commentary intact.
