I forgot who made this comment.....but.......somebody was saying that some studios are hesitant to (re)release those old existing special features on the new high definition format because they would be in standard definition, providing less than stellar (i.e. crappy) picture quality. There is a feeling that this would degrade the overall quality of the release. SO......they'd rather not have them included.

However....I tend to agree with the notion that they're just waiting to double-dip with some "ultimate" edition release.

*shrugs*

I HATE HATE HATE getting 480p extras. Keep them.

I want HD stuff, period.

And if special features are important to you, why not see if the movie has any before buying? hmmm?

They probably spend alot of hours encoding/mastering the movie itself, and don't want to go back and do the same thing all over again, for 'special features' that only a small handful of people actually look for. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I can't remember the last time I have viewed special features, except maybe a few bloopers or deleted scenes...and that's been a LONG time.
To be honest, I don't think i've ever viewed Spec. Features on BD

I have to agree. I already have a lot of thease movies on DVD. Blu-ray is supposed to compete with DVD and be better IN ALL ASPECTS, not just in sound and picture. I understand them wanting to put stuff out quickly for the holidays, but I for one am disapointed in the lack of extras.

It's called High Definition, not highdefinitionFeatures. With this I mean, yeah features are cool, but I want to watch movies looking like movies, not like 16mm reduction dupes full of extras.. If you want that, there's twentyeleven thousand DVDs to choose from at firesale prices. or rentals.

another note the Futureshop i went to here had a big Transformers display right when you come turn the corner into the store thats what you see first, and then the Spiderman table is next to it, but u wouldnt know its the spiderman table until you walked up to it since the boxes are laid flat.

Not only that but their forum mods seem to be hddvd lenient as they say its "biologically impossible for humans to tell the difference between bluray/hddvd" which is weird since they have more blurays in the store and bestbuy owns them and they seem to lean towards blu

i think with that its more like your Futureshop store must have a lot of Transformers leftover so its probably just a more way of trying to get rid of them

I think this is the best statement thus far and sums up why they are probably not releasing them. Some of the special features I have seen have looked like pure crap. It is a real turn off to go from 1080p HD to 480i pure crap. Why waste the time/money to include them?

Besides, I don't watch features. I watch the movie. It kinda boils down to how cell phones have morphed into these portable office machines. I dislike a cell phone that is a PDA. I want my phone for talking. Not any other crap. However, I like txting and taking pics. However, my main use for a PHONE is... ? Talking

My main use for Blu is...? Watching a MOVIE. Any extras are nice, but I am not going to raise a stink over it.

extras is just how it sounds like extras not a big deal and besides i rather have that 50GB covering better sound and picture not extras. i think you will live without commentaries, documentaries, etc. The only extras i will ever watch are just deleted scenes, music videos for the movie, and trailers of upcoming releases

Just because you are happy settling for less, does not mean the rest of us are. Would you complain if the extras were on the discs? I doubt it.

If it is that much of a problem, buy the dvd versions instead. That way you can settle for less than more. It's a win win situation for you.

You get cheaper prices, all the special features/extras you want and can upconvert the image NEAR HD quality. A perfect fit for those that are not happy with current Blu offerings.

You answered your own question. "I am paying the $ for the Hi-Def". What more do we need to say? The extras are just that - EXTRA. They are not standard. It's not like a house where toilets are EXTRA or a roof. It's STANDARD. Marble tile, is EXTRA.

It wasn't a question. It was a statement. I want extras. Nothing you say will change that.

Like I stated earlier - if it's become that much of a problem - perhaps you should discontinue support for Blu until it meets your expectations.

Or maybe they should just hurry up and raise their standards to meet mine.
