EA is geting rid of it because they are going to implement a different strategy. Maybe require always online for one of their games.

As Trace17 stated, GALACTIC DIFFERENCE in your comparison.

LBP has no add-on content that helps you cheat or make the gameplay easier. EA games add-on content is designed to make you be able to play the game with more ease and more advantage than everyone else... unless everyone pays for the content to be able to compete on equal footing? IE, PAY TO CHEAT. This is why I refuse to play EA games online.

Hell, Naughty Dog released "stat manipulating items" for Uncharted 3 and I instantly stopped playing for fun. And that is pretty collossal since it is my favourite game. I only play now to help friends with trophies or the co-op campaigns.

Is there a way to play these Golf Games and turn off the wind? That's the only thing stopping me from enjoying Golf games. I can never do anything as soon as the wind starts in, and at that point I lose interest. Even in the Mini game on the PSN for Golf. I really like the game, fairly simplistic for me, but I just don't like the wind.

If I could turn that off, that'd be awesome.

Really? The wind is a very easy obstacle to deal with. Simple calculations to compensate.

Everytime I try to get it (with other games, I've never played a Tiger Woods game) the wind will blow it all the way off track and I get frustrated easily and end up saying the old mantra, "**** THIS GAME!" lol

Hot Shots Golf is a great example.

If I could turn off the wind, that'd be awesome!

Repeat what I said using Uncharted 3 as an example then. By your very own definition there is not a galactic difference either with sony (or activision, or ubisoft etc), they all have paid dlc packs to unlock everything in games, they have pay for power in paid games (as per your very own example uncharted 3 for sony, black ops 2 for activision).

But of course it isn't EA hate at all in this thread. They get rid of online passes, you speculate that it is all part of some massive scheme to combine them with season passes (as that is so clearly the obvious and sensible conclusion). You then go on to provide examples of there 'bad' dlc that companies and Sony wouldn't do as that is so clearly related to EA getting rid of online passes to combine them with season passes (how did you put it: "Ya............ m'kaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy............ As Trace17 stated, GALACTIC DIFFERENCE") whilst providing such an example where sony has. So once again, your point is not in any way sensible.

The Online Pass is going away because EA wants to sell all the features it should include in the game separately. So those Online Passes was a barrier to much higher revenues from those that refuse to pay for online access. According to this video, games that come out yearly may not anymore, instead you buy in an in game yearly update.

So what does that mean? For example they'd release one copy of Madden and every year you just pay like $20 or 30 bucks for the upgraded rosters, tweaks and that type of thing via updates?

Wonder if they can improve graphics via updates. Well if they're doing a once a year thing I suppose they could.

I've been saying forever that's what they should do.

EDIT: Jesus Christ those ****ers are annoying as shit! How can anyone get through a whole video? Ugh.

That means you are going to hear complaints from those who complain about online access requirements. And sure, they can do all kinds of updates to video games, including graphics, especially if they engineer it that way ahead of time. Think about the games that come out every year. I imagine that 80% is the same code.

I was speaking of your direct comparison to LBP with the galactic difference comment.

P.S. Those examples are completely made up. Those are not reflective of actual content available for Madden on the PS Store.
Ok that makes sennse regarding the microrransactions, but regarding online play we will have to pay to play madden online now?,

Fair enough, I still think it is a good example for the sheer amount of dlc there is.

The only news here is that there will be no more online passes for ea, there is nothing to suggest that anything else is changing.

Phil drops the Megaton.

When EA announced they were dropping Online Passes, I knew something bad was coming.

This generation's relatively inexpensive Online Pass is being replaced by a platform-wide Online AND Offline Pass that costs the whole price of the game.

I hope SOny comes out and says their not following

Sony are safe. They already said they're not following MS's model.

What's even more hilarious, is that you need an ONLINE CONNECTION to activate the game. Yeah, way to limit your audience, ya corporate fat cats!

You have to pay to play online if you buy the game used, you need an Online Pass. EA hopes they make more from in game transactions than the passes. I usually buy one of the many NCAA Dynasty packages they offer since that is what I got the game to play, dynasty mode. I don't think I can even access the in game store without a pass so I couldn't even use those extras offline.

Yep, I knew this was coming too. This is just the next step in this garbage practice. Games will be tied to your account now. You can play used games on another console only if you are using the account that game was registered too. So, unless every Xbox One owner decides to start sharing their account with everyone else, there won't be much of a used market for the next Xbox.

After the Xbox announcement and subsequent rumors, it looks like the new console(s?) are going to have a fee to play a used game or on a friend's console...much like....the online pass. Replace a 10 dollar online pass with one up to (again from rumors) up to 60 bucks. I have a bad gut feeling that we'll be begging for the 10 dollar online passes before too long but time will tell
