I actually like the 2005 Fantastic Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer. I thought they captured the tone of the comics well.

I should rewatch them both. Maybe the extended versions? Though I felt some of the casting was a bit off.
There was a perfect rendering of Galactus in a video game, similar as to how he ought to appear if ever properly in a film, but I forgot which one it was from.

How about a documentary explaining why Fox, or anyone else, can't get a single Fantastic 4 film right?

Maybe it's one of those concepts that just simply not meant to be tackled on motion media?

Yeah I liked the 2005 one the best the 2007 sequel was just a mess. I have just picked up last years Fantastic Four film yes I have seen it and to be honest I did not hate yes it's the worst comic book film of last year but I enjoyed it more then Rise of the Sliver Surfer. Had Fox not screwed around with it could of been well Fantastic.

I have no idea how you can prefer a dark/gritty Fan4stic that stays extremely unfaithful to the comics than a film that stays pretty close to the comics' tone and features the amazing Silver Surfer but fair enough.

I couldn't believe my eyes - it's the film's theatrical trailer in 35mm scanned at 1080p! The film and special effects actually look pretty decent here. If any prints still exist, Avi Arad needs to get over it and let this film actually be released.

Wow! That trailer looks great. I would totally buy a Blu-ray if it looked like that. I remember a subplot with a character named the Jeweler that seemed like unnecessary padding that didn't go anywhere, but otherwise I actually liked the film and thought it was better than the big budget versions we got later. Rebecca Stabb was definitely a much better Sue Storm than Jessica Alba, that's for sure.

Just watched this on Amazon Prime. It was interesting, as most feature-length making-of documentaries are to me, but I have doubts about how many of the behind the scenes stories have been embellished. One thing that raised a red flag for me was when they talk about the original guy hired to head up the visual effects got the job by claiming to have been the FX supervisor for Independence Day.

...Fantastic Four was completed by 1992/1993. Independence Day was made in 1995/1996 and wasn't even conceived by Devlin/Emmerich until 1994. So that FX supervisor story was complete BS. Makes you wonder how many other things are false.

The doomed guys are now selling the full directors commentary movie on their site. It's still not an official Fox release but this might possibly be the closest we get to a high quality transfer of the Fantastic Four (1994) Movie. This is probably the best quality release out there. Not sure how long they will sell these before they get a cease and desist order lol. Only $9 too so not bad.
