Default Wow

The rant is out of character from what I usually see from Bill Hunt. He was very emotional. Everything he said theree is true, and what I might add, is I think this $99 player, might also have the effect of tempting blu supporters to turn to neutral. Please everyone resist buying this shitty player.

Finally. After all the BS flowing out of these forums in the last 48 hours, it's nice to finally have someone who knows what they are talking about speak up. After adding a record number of "experts" to my ignore list over the HD DVD 100 dollar player, I may have to just skip this forum all together as it now requires too much ignoring! I love Bill Hunt.

I just find it funny that people keep saying to "resist" buying that player. No disrepect meant, but don't worry. I for one feel no temptation here.

Nothing, zero, nil, nada, goose-egg

Everything is going to be fine!

Oh no, I liked this article and I liked the thread (that matters 0 that much). I was just pointing out that there have been a whole ton of fire sale threads today.

It was a good article and I am happy you posted it.

Gold star!

I'll resist checking out what the HD-DVD'ers think of this article, I expect they believe Toshiba are a charitable organistation fighting the evil Sony empire lol.

Wrong advice. Buy one, and use it as a DVD player, coaster, or burn it for all I care.
All that counts is that it removes the player from the hands of an uneducated soul that'll maybe buy HD DVD discs after that... Which is What Tosh wants.

Look at it this way...Insiders have said there are only 50,000 of these A2's for the 200 now 99 dollar sale. You have to know that at least 60% of those players are going to go to people that already have an hd dvd player. So that means only about 20000 new hd dvd custumer's. Of that, only probably 5,000 of those will buy more than 2 hd dvd's in the year.

And what is coming out tomorrow? Oh yeah the new ps3 that will sell many more than 50,000 in one day.

This sale won't have an effect at all.

Bill has said everything we've been saying on this forum over the last day or so, but he also highlighted two extremely important points:

Pixar is more of a threat to HD DVD than we realise. Forumgoers aren't usually family types, so might not think that these are the truly big ones, but the appearance of the first Pixar titles (three on the same day, no less) on Blu-ray could lead to vast sales. Toshiba's virtual player giveaway might balance out the sales, but probably not as much as they're hoping. HD DVD software remains as pricey as ever, and people who are too cheap to buy a decent player will certainly balk at the disc cost.

Toshiba is not only runing the chance of anyone ever producing a HD DVD player again, but is acting in an uncompetitive way within the entire industry. And, of course, this will be duly noted within the industry, and remembered long after HD DVD goes the way of the dodo. I'm just glad 3 or 4 US states saw fit to outlaw practices such as these.

Anyway, I still don't think their firesale will hurt anyone as much as themselves.
