that's all the more reason why they used stacked discs, they're greedy

These are not stacked. They each have their own sleeve. They also don't scratch as I have been taking the Alien Anthology and Star Wars discs in and out for a couple years without any scratches.

Maybe they are just cheap and lazy, and figure since Blu-Rays are virtually scratch resistant that it doesn't matter if they get slightly damaged because they'll still play anyway.

I've only got 1 of these stacked discs sets and it's my Mulan one which I opened the other day. I was in a bad mood for a while after realizing what they'd done. I eventually calmed down when I remembered that the blu-ray disc has it's own hub and it's only the two DVD's sharing a hub. As I'm likely to never watch those DVD's, I didn't see the use in letting myself stew in a crabby mood. The fact that they're doing it to sets with multiple blu-ray's though? That makes me really upset. It's unacceptable either way but at least I can deal with my DVD's being stacked as long as the blu-ray's have their own hubs.

BUT! Say for example it's a multi-disc set and a DVD was included for special features that aren't on the blu-ray, that would be horrible. Arrow does that and I hope to god they never start this practice.

I understand the hate against the stacked discs, but I really don't see ANY studios changing and going back to not stacking discs.

Luckily if there are stacked discs and DVDs are included, I just get rid of those anyways

Whatever happened to blu-ray disc being unable to scratch easily? It's not like you need a jackhammer to get to the next disc.

They're scratch-resistant, not indestructible. Also, as many copies of Frankenweenie and Wreck-It-Ralph have demonstrated, Blu-rays can indeed be scratched.

I'm torn on this subject. I've been the recent recipient of 2 different WB triple features where the clips inside the case had broken off and the tray was just laying there. These were new, so I don't understand how they could've broken so easily. I also own Wreck-It Ralph 3D and the 4-disc version of Lincoln. I'm not a fan of discs stacking, but at this point, I actually prefer it to the trays. I even took the case for Lincoln (sold off the DVD and Digital Copy disc) and use it for season 2 of The Walking Dead. I like that the stacked discs cases are the same width as a regular Elite case. IMO, both cases are flawed.

They could go back to the individual slim cases for each disc that Warner used for some of their earlier box sets, such as the Austin Powers Trilogy and the Batman Anthology.

I like those! I used to own the Harry Potter 1-5 box set.

I was kinda upset when I opened The Avengers last year on its release day to discover the stacked discs. Had a mild nerd-rage in front of my roomies before my other guests arrived and did check each disc. Mine were all in perfect condition, thankfully.

I haven't seen this in any other movie recently, lest the half-overlapping discs count as being stacked? My BB Dark Knight Rises steel, UK Skyfall steel, and French Amazing Spider-Man steel all feature that.

I have Being Human (Syfy) season 1 & it has stacked discs. It made it through shipping without any damage, but the way it's stacking hubs are made might have more to do with it. I don't think the discs actually touch, do they in these movie releases?

I open all Blu-rays in store before leaving. I've had too many issues with broken hubs and scratched discs not to.

I agree - I hate stacked discs, but I hate broken clips on those trays more. They're so flimsy that I get nervous every time I open them.

I only have The Avengers with the stacked discs and I haven't had any problems. I don't buy a lot of Disney release at the moment but with Marvel films being distributed by Disney, I will be buying more. I wont complain until I run into a problem.

I can why people are upset though.

I have a couple titles with stacked discs but haven't had any problems so far. I prefer the regular cases. More disconcerting is when I opened my first stacked disc release and thought it was missing a disc!

Of the top of my head, I have purchased The Fox and the Hound, Wreck It Ralph, Pocahontas, Lincoln, The Avengers, and The Muppets.

Would someone post a picture of a blu-ray scratched from stacked disc packaging? I have the 4 Film Favorite Batman Anthology and wondered about returning it. If stacked disc sets are not likely to go away seeing a damage picture might help me in calculating risk. If I purchase a new shirk wrapped set and keep it stored on a shelf, will damage be minimal or are is this packaging just eatting away the discs without any chance of escape? Thank you in advance for any damage pictures.
