Well congrats to the new guy and welcome. I ordered TRON on VHS before I bought my VCR. While my siblings rented something and wanted to watch their movies first, TRON was the first tape I played. Was also the first DVD I owned. Well, you see the trend I have going.

I even have models of the light cycles, a tank, and killer recognizer diorama made mostly from paper! Yes, I spent hours painting rez lines on the tank turret, and recognizer.

I ordered The Departed on blu-ray before buying my PS3. I may be insane anyway, that's what the gremlin that lives in my ear keeps telling me.

I'm a huge fan of Blu-Ray, and of HD media in general, but I've yet to take the plunge into buying an HD setup. Once the HD players hit shelves a few years ago, I boycotted DVD buying (felt like it would be like buying cassette tapes while CD's were on the shelves).

Software is king now, and studio support will be swayed by the numbers. I felt that buying a few movies is a small investment for a huge pay off in the end.

thankblu for your time. -J
Nothing wrong with being overly excited. Years back when PS2 first came out and it was hard to find my friend bought up a whole bunch of games 2 months before he was actually able to get a console. Right now I'm building a table for a television I don't own yet. We all do it. Rejoice .

I had about 10 BDs before I got my PS3. I put them in my room so I kept on seeing them, and after a while I just went out and got a PS3 and never looked back.

I'm happy to report I have nearly 20 blu-rays to my collection so far and I don't even have a player of any sort either let alone a HDTV to see them on! In time I know I'll upgrade and have a whole host of fantastic films to see on my premiere night. For now I'm patient...

Seem that everyone is in this type a boat one time ot the other.I bought ghost rider on Bd and paid 29.95 at Best Buy before the s300 was even release.

Try explaining paying 29.95 for a Bd while you can get the DVD for 15.95 to your wife.

You should pick up a stand alone BD player. A lot of people say pick up the ps3 but Warner and other companies are looking at which side has the most Stand Alones sold as well as movies. THe more stand alones out there for BD the better.

No you're not insane, unless I am too.

I have SM3, and I plan on getting/focusing on the Harry Potter movies this quarter as I wait for my xmas gift (BD player). I think everyone that can afford to, should focus on the HP Warner movies (& any other Warner titles you can afford to get) early this quarter, because the 'HD DVD' guys will be doing the same (IMO), and want to show Warner a change in sales ratio. We need to counter this & win Warner Exclusivity! I'm not supporting Warner, but winning them over to win the war! We have the purchasing power to do it, just need to ban together for the cause like was done to win the Transformers week...

I did that as well, had a couple BD titles before I got a player. Hard to passup on deals. Heck I had over 20 DVD's for months before I got my first DVD Player in 1998.

The only reason I did was because I worked at CompUSA at the time and they had weely lossleader sales. I think 10 of those 20 were bought for $6.99 each. So before the store opened a good number of us would grab the titles we wanted and stash them in the back.

We did the same thing at Tower. I think there was ONE copy of Army of Darkness LE that actually hit the shelves

I bought 10 dvd before I bought my first DVD player. And, of course I did the same thing regarding BD. I bought 12 movies before I bought my player. So, you are not alone.

I joined the Columbia House Laserdisc club before I got my player. I wanted to have some movies when I got it and all of the places around me that sold players did not sell the Laserdiscs themselves. I did buy one DVD before I got my player, but my player was on order, so I knew I was getting one. No BDs before I got my player though.

It's a brilliant strategy obviously.

I think the only title I had when I bought my PS3 in Jan. on the way home from work was A Christmas Story. Knowing that wasn't going to exactly blow me away I was left scrambling for a disc to buy. After running around to several stores ended up getting MI3 for full price ($30) at Hastings.
