I saw a repackage of this at BB with 2014 date on the back. Any chance LW1 is the correct version?

If it list a commentary for part 1 then It's probably the newer version

Why are they even producing the old discs since they released a new upgraded one?

Can you tall me if part one is still the old disc from 2006 or the newer remastered one? A way to tell is if it has the commentary track.

Bump.

Still curious if the new version with the newer packaging (which uses the same slipcover as before so you might have to pull it off to be sure) has corrected discs.

I just purchased this collection with the revised artwork and unfortunately it looks like it still comes with the old version of LW1.

How can we tell which disc it is? Might just buy it anyway as it will be better than the DVDs and it's 13 bucks right now at WM as opposed to the more expensive box set.

I'm starting to think that they all come with the LW1 blu-ray from 2006, regardless of the revised cover art or not. I sent Warner Home Video an e-mail this morning about this issue, hopefully they'll get back to me tomorrow with some good news.

Most of us keep saying it... the UK release can be bought cheaply, has the bonus disc, and every disc is the remastered release.

Just look for the set that has the copyright date of 2013 or 2014 (was confirmed by someone when these first came out to not of the correct LW1 disc). It will still have the inferior BD for the first film, but at least you should be able to guarantee that the, either, second/third film wasn't encoded with Swordfish instead that LW 2/3. If by some chance, WB actually corrected the LW1 disc, it will match the artwork of LW2-4 as LW1 has the pics of Riggs & Murtaugh on the disc art.

I did email them to see if I could get a replacement for the newer LW1 disc since my set came with the 2006 disc, and was told that they weren't doing an exchange program for that disc. I even told them that the packaging stated that all movies came with DTS-MA HD and that the 2006 disc doesn't have that audio selection, only the newer disc from the box set.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the disc artwork is the most obvious giveaway.

But who knows anymore. I could see this as being quietly corrected in the future (similar to how the Good, Bad, & the Ugly discs with the original mono just started appearing a while ago). If that happens, hopefully someone out there will catch it and share the news.

Too bad, the 4 film favorites is super cheap and I like how the new artwork matches the style they've used on the DVD sets for years. Like I said, might snatch it up anyway, unless the older LW1 disc really is that horrible. Like I said, all I have is an older DVD set at this point.

I just picked this set up at Walmart. I've emailed WB asking for a replacement disc for the first film. Here's hoping...

This set is $12.99 at best buy again. I think sale ends today. Case is still marked 2014 and dts-ma for all movies. Anyone know if studio ever corrected first movie for this batch?

I just ordered this region free UK set for $19 dollars and change, including shipping. I've had a hankering to see the first two movies again.

If what y'all are saying about the UK set is true, then this will eliminate the confusion about which discs are the proper remasters.

The UK set is great, proper masters. Since that set is so cheap I can't understand anyone rolling the dice on the 4 Film Favorites version.

I just finished watching Lethal Weapon (1987) by way of the Blu-ray from the region free UK box set.

The movie looks really good on this UK disc. Of course, my expectations are skewed, because all of my previous viewings of this movie were by way of VHS tapes from renting the movie time and time again during the late 1980s and early 1990s. In fact, today's viewing of the UK Blu-ray was my first time seeing Lethal Weapon in its original aspect ratio!

Today's viewing was my first time seeing this movie in 20 years or so. I had my fill of the movie for a long while, but I recently had a hankering to watch it again, and I'm glad that I did. I had forgotten how much I used to enjoy the sleazy destructiveness of this film, and I still think that it's quintessential late 1980s cinema. Danny Glover and Mel Gibson had such great interactions and mannerisms in all of these flicks.

I'll be revisiting all of the movies this weekend. The first and second movies are my favorites, and they go downhill from there, but even the third and fourth offerings are good stuff.

Don't forget Tom Atkins.
