Doubtful that we'll get a UK release over here.
Would really love one.

They may be upconverted but we will still get lossless audio.

I'm guessing this probably won't happen, but I'd like to see BBC Video move each DW Confidential to the appropriate Blu-ray disc containing that episode, which is what they did for S1 and S2 of Torchwood. Not a big deal, but it is nice on the Torchwood sets to be able to watch an episode and then go right to the appropriate Torchwood Declassified without having to load a new disc.

Yea, here's hoping they release them separately as I already all the previously released blu rays and have no need for the sonic remote.

Agreed. If they release Series 1-4 separately, I'll buy them. Already own the Specials and Series 5 & 6.

the current price is only 10% off msrp so I expect it to drop another 10-20% by the release date

Hmm... this'd be a good deal if I didn't already own season 5 & 6 and the season 4 specials. I'll wait for individual releases of 1-4 and sell my DVD sets then, thanks.

It would be odd if it didn't get released over here. Seeing as it's a British show an' all.

I pre-ordered it. Can always change my mind later if there's a reason to. I was just watching this on dvd the other and thought about how bad they looked. As long as they are decent upconverts and address interlacing issues then I'll be happy. This is one show that I've continued buying all of the later seasons on dvd simply because all of my other seasons were in dvd. Actually its one of the few dvds I purchase. So since I don't own any of them on blu, I definitely don't mind upgrading in one big boxed set like this!!

I wish it were cheaper and without the screwdriver (don't really need that).

Can't wait to see the specs/reviews on these!!

Rick

Remembering that PAL is 576 vs NTSC's 480 so for example for US users or anyone that don't have the PAL DVDs from the UK, these on BD should have a little better quality by default that the NTSC DVDs just from that, since PAL to NTSC DVD is a downconvert.

I was just about to buy the season 5 at bestbuy for $14.99 with U&S.
Now I'm thinking if I should wait...

I like the series, but not enough to pay $300 for it. I will wait until it gets to around $150, but not sure that will ever happen (I did get Lost for $99, that really spoiled me )

other thing is that since series will still go on, there is a possibility that they might release another "complete" set with the new Doctor Who included. then I would want to buy that too. I would have been more inclind to buy it if there were separate boxset for "each" Doctor Who, and not a complete set for this last 3.

i think I just answered my own question while writing this
I'm just going to pick up the season 5 for $14.99 for now, and wait for similar price drop on other seasons or for this complete set (if it hits $150)

I am in for this. I own the whole 2005 series up until this point on various formats and editions, but I cannot pass this one up.

Pretty much echoing everyone else. Didn't expect to see Seasons 1 to 4 get a release. I always thought it was shot in standard def until "Planet of the Dead" in 2009.

Hmm...I'll keep an eye on it. Don't know if I'll pick it up right away if it comes out here in the UK. I already own Seasons 1 to 4 and the specials on DVD. However, I don't especially care for the Matt Smith seasons, but I think if I'm going to own Doctor Who on Blu-Ray at all, it'll be through a set that includes the first four series too.

Long story short, I'll pick this up sometime if the 1080p surprises me!

As mentioned, Series 1-4 were shot on SD 576p video. So the claims of "newly remastered versions at full 1080p resolution" seem misinformed. Whatever we'll get will surely be upconverted from the SD source.

Unless they throw in additional extra features (like the podcast commentaries or the Series 1 deleted scenes), then I'll stick with the DVD sets of 1-4. The Next Doctor upconvert looks awful on BD.
