Here are the official Madman announcements for Porco Rosso and Grave of the Fireflies. No mention of the Totoro box in the November release sheets so it may be exclusive to a certain retailer, but we shall have to wait and see!

I enjoyed Totoro and Grave of the fireflies but DEFINITELY NOT Akira. . . *smh*

For those not following the Jap Ghibli thread, next two releases announced for 4th Dec - Princess Mononoke and The Cat Returns

So we should expect these in Australia/NZ next year

Sweet, been waiting for Mononoke for ages!

I haven't seen it in years, and I've been waiting until the BD comes out to see it again in its FullHD glory.

Here is the blurb:
A special 25th Anniversary Limited Edition. Features the DVD, Blu-Ray and the official Art of My Neighbour Totoro Hardcover book. Along with exclusive art cards in a beautiful artbox package.

In other news:

Madman has acquired the Australian and New Zealand rights to The Wind Rises, so expect the see a cinema release for that sometime next year!

Press Release Here

I have also added some full cover scans to the front page, they are low res, and intended just to give you an idea of the product.

I haven't seen the Oz release, but the Japanese one was pretty good, though there was some 'controversy' over the levels of grain. The U.K one apparently applied a bit of DNR to clean it up some more, but I am not sure which transfer we got here

It's noticeably more grainy than any of the other releases. It just looks a lot more "aged" than other older releases Laputa or Totoro, and isn't as polished.

Nothing on their release sheets for this one.... So definitely not in 2013 or Jan 2014.

Did Grave of the Fireflies get pushed back? Can't seem to find anyone stocking it.

Afraid so, the following is from their Facebook page:

Quote:
It was unfortunately delayed for this year, as we wanted to make sure the release is perfect, and contains all the elements, and features we want to include on this special release. It will now be released at some stage next year. We'll keep you posted with release dates and features as we confirm them soon.

The only one of these I've yet seen is Spirited Away, thanks to the fantastic Special DVD release we got here a few years back (before I'd discovered the dangerous combination of a debit card plus the Internet! )

I wonder why that still hasn't made it to Blu? I would have thought that was a natural, especially since it already has what I understood was a 1080p digital transfer, a whole slew of extras and an English language dub (though I preferred watching it with the Japanese audio, myself).

It's their most well known film so they're saving it for one of their last releases and is expected for a release next year. Another well loved film Princess Mononoke gets it's Japanese release in Dec so should make its way here next year as well

Japan has to release the title first, and at present Studio Ghibli are releasing their titles in Japan at a rate of 2 every 6 months and in the order of release... so Spirited Away is next after The Cat Returns and Princess Mononoke, both of which get released in Japan next month
