$60 towards a "non" disc version with a box is possible with a Kickstarter (Even Retail) so I would clarify you guys.
Lol it won't be a box without a disc. I'll bet my avatar on it, come release if it's a code in a box I'll change my avatar to anything you like

No one thought the PC physical edition would be a code in a box so why do people think the PS4 one is? Sure no one has come out and said this is a physical honest to god disc. But do they really need to? PHYSICAL edition would imply an actual copy of the game on disc not a piece of paper.

This kickstarter really has become a nightmare, it's ridiculous.

We've even got idiots at Kotaku running a post about how shoddy the mock up art is for christ sake

Can't believe how negative the gaming media has been towards this project. It's really soured the hype for this game. I just don't get it.

In any case the fans are putting their money where their mouth is, and have already donated over $230,000 in the past few hours since this physical PS4 announcement. In comparison the past three days only made $45,000 ish.

I agree, that it will be an actual disc based physical release. I do see where others are coming from though. In the past we have gotten "physical" copies which was just a code inside a box. It has happened so I get where people are coming from.

I'm just going to wait till the retail release to pick this up though.

I can understand that PSN games that have had limited editions released have just had a code. So i can see where the thought process comes from.

But what I didn't understand is why people only started to think of this when the PS4 physical edition was announced and not about the PC physical edition that was there from day 1. So much negativity when it comes to this game and PlayStation.

Glad to hear there will be a disc version so I can have a backup copy of the game just in case I need to uninstall stuff. Plus 30 GB takes a few minutes from the disc compared to a day on regular broadband from digital download.

Some critics don't like the early concept graphics and are cutting it up; that's too bad. He had to assemble something to show people for Kickstarter. I guess he should've put in the images "concept art only" so those who don't realize the game hadn't started actual production can understand it's not what the finished game will represent.

-------
I'll likely buy this game for the interesting gameplay and intricate detail of the world, having Shenmue 1 on Dreamcast. It's a good game with great ideas, though admittedly slow paced at times and a lot of the world is locked off until you progress the story.

My favorite part was unlocking the city area (as small as it is at first) and playing the Sega arcade games.

Here is a physical copy of Tomb Raider: Temple of Osiris

http://www.amazon.com/Lara-Croft-Tem...mple+of+osiris

I'm not trying to run down the game in any way. I would like devs to be more "clear" on what you are paying extra for.

Still wanna bet that avatar?

Yes lol, because like I said a few posts up I realise there are boxed editions of PSN games that just have codes but this isn't a really a small PSN game, and nobody thought the PC physical edition would be a code in a box so didn't understand why people thought the PS4 version would

Oh it'll be released, I backed the kickstarter because it will be a lot cheaper than buying it at retail.

Update News:

PS4 physical copy now a platform choice! All tiers $60 and above will include your choice of the following:

PS4 Physical Copy
PS4 Digital Copy

Windows PC Physical Copy
Windows PC Digital Copy
From the kickstarter Shenmue III page.

Will they sell the physical disc version in stores at a higher price than 59.99? The kickstarter price is $60.00. I'd be surprised if the game sells at retail for 69.99 or higher.

Experiences of their time fall into nostalgia. I would like to play the HD versions and then Shenmue 3 for the story but I also know it won't be the same experience given the games we have today. Same thing happened with FF7 when I played whilst we had PS3.

Mmm, there are some games I find difficult to go back to because of how they've aged, despite the hours and hours I played them and loved them originally. The original RE1 falls into that category now. HD has spoiled us, though I think generally speaking this generation of gaming so far (much like movies) has been disappointing and not nearly as diverse.

Thanks Mavrick. That's hopeful news of making Shenmue 1 and 2 available on the PS4.

I have Shenmue 2 for the Dreamcast, though I have to hook the console back up to play it which only takes a few minutes. Will also play Sega's 18 Wheeler, Sword of the Berzerk and Crazy Taxi while I'm at it.

I hope it's coming too, It was fun to play through on the Dreamcast again but to see it in HD would be glorious.

I have II on DC too, but the whole thing being subtitled made the game way too slow for me these days, so I went and bought an Xbox to play the Dubbed version

Yeah, there was a lot of text to read through. I would like to just get to the next task most games without having to read a lot of text, but some puzzles if I remember, required careful attention to the dialog/clues/text. The Dubbed version sounds good and I can imagine that would be offered for the update too. Thanks.

I loved the Shenmue games on my Dreamcast, they are up there with my favourite games, every few years I'll get the system out of storage to re-play them. In the mid 2000s I had also picked up the Xbox version of Shenmue 2 (inc DVD of S1 story), but I tended to just play the Dreamcast version for the Japanese audio.
If a 1&2 remaster/port does appear I'd happily buy it on PS4 and/or PC.

One thing I'd be interested in though, playing them both in Japanese. Dialogue wise, I always preferred the 2nd game as some of the English voices in the first game were pretty ropey. So if the rumoured remaster does materialise, and its English dub only, that would be a disappointment.

Japanese dialogue with English subs is how I watch my anime and how I like to play those sorta games except maybe Final Fantasy etc. Where the voice acting is greater. Or maybe Dragonball Z series because I grew up on English and the dub was great.

I'd rather they spend the money on getting the game made to the best quality possible than waste it on a show stand because the game WILL sell enough just the way it garnered enough to get started.

In some pretty unsurprising news the game has been delayed to the second half of 2018. There will be more info released to kickstarter backers soon.

I'm not surprised, this is the one game I was looking forward to that I actually expected to not release this year at all. Best to make it as great as possible.
