I would have to say Star Wars.

I can still remember the first time a friend of my folks told my sister and I that he had read about a new movie that was being made about people that lived in a distant galaxy and a great struggle between good and evil. He said that it was going to be called Star Wars. The year of anticipation and then finally getting to see it after waiting in line for what seemed like hours was huge.

I have always been a movie fan but when I started watching AMC Movie Talk on Youtube daily, my collection jumped in size and I saw any movie I could get my hands on.

Yeah AMC Movie Talk is an amazing show, watch it every day. I can't really remember which movie got me properly into movies. I think it was either The Dark Knight or Avatar.

My Mom and Dad always say I was hooked on Horror movies since I could walk. The first movie that left an impression on me was Frankenstein (1931).
After that I wanted to see all the sequels and the rest of Universals monster movies.

Being born in 1970 the first summer I really remember going to the theater (outside of a Disney Film) was 1977. Between Smokey and the Bandit and Star Wars I was hooked.

Never reference a better film in your own crappy film...although if I can get something referring to Madonna big dick in any of my films, it will always be for the better.

Oooh. Yeah. Forget my advice. Look at all the lame post-Tarantino movies of the late nineties to see how it can go horribly wrong (Boondock Saints, Way of the Gun)...but then again, Swingers got it right, sooooo....

Terminator 2 definitely started my love of film. I watched the VHS so many times, to the extreme I watched it 6 days in a row.

Star Wars got me hooked on film, age 5 or 6.

Woody Allen's movies showed me film could be something more, ages 11-14.

Le Samourai and The Conformist's re-releases in the '90s mark the era that movies took over my life, age 18-20.

Discovering Fassbinder's films sealed the deal, age 22.

Star Wars. I get that it's not an original answer, but that really is the one. As a young kid I admired the simplistic story of good vs. evil and as I grew I knew I wanted to create with the same medium.

The Boondock Saints and The Way of the Gun are both amazing!!

In fact, most 90s Tarantino ripoffs are worth watching and rewatching!

It's a shame QT doesn't follow that advice!

I would say The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings. The first movie that truly had me mesmerized at the theater.

I'd like to state that watching Mulholland Drive for the first time a couple years ago made me the film viewer that I am today.

While I always loved movies (as I've earlier stated), this one really let me establish what I love within films.

I'll agree that most Tarantino Rip Offs aren't dull, per se, but that doesn't make them good. I suppose my favorite of the lot is Go.

The Goonies, ET, Gremlins, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2. Plus alot of animated films from the 80's and 90's. Especially Jurassic Park and T2 and seeing what I was watching up on the screen having my mind blown by it.

I watched a lot of movies when I was young, but I can't remember a specific film that initiated me. However The Tree of Life was instrumental in kicking off my current addiction and 1-2 film a day habit. I watched it on a low quality VOD stream back in 2011 and it still knocked the pants off of me, needless to say it was a revelation watching the Blu-ray on my projector last year.
