I recently did an interview with Joe from Vin Syn (thanks to James for helping put it all together!) where we touched on LHOES a bit. He did say that it was "the most tedious restoration we've ever done". I didn't want to spam the forums with links to another website, but anyone interested in reading it can PM me and I can point you in the right direction.

I asked questions on the main VS thread and someone said it was still in the pipeline for 2017.
I'm very eager to pick this up on blu and am swinging towards the corruption release, but if this is coming I will hold off

This is one of my most anticipated Blu-Ray releases remaining... I have the Barrel DVD and an original theatrical one-sheet, I considered buying Corruption for the 'secret' version of this but decided to hold off until this is done proper.

I have faith in VinSyn that whatever time they're taking, it is because they want to do this right. This must be one of their most requested titles, and since it will be a good seller, then of course they would want to get this out as soon as they can.

And yes, I actually prefer this to Last House on the Left, it's such a unique film (particularly for its time) and feels like one big acid trip.

I'd love to own this simply for the Video Nasty angle - that the BBFC and the censors wanted to put this one on the list, but accidentally grabbed Tobe Hooper's Funhouse instead (One of the many, many names that Last House on Dead End Street ran under was also Funhouse).

Reviving this another year on. I know Vinegar Syndrome included the film as an easter egg on their release of Corruption. I've been holding off on getting that, but at this point am tempted to do so. What is the restoration like? I'm surprised that it's taken this long to get a proper standalone edition put together.

I'm guessing VS has dropped the project? It's frustrating because this is one of the most underrated horror films of all time IMO—absolutely, horrendously savage, surreal, and unforgettable. I have the DVD edition from Hard Corps. which I believe was released in Australia. It's region-free and 2 disc, and is a rip of the Barrel release, albeit with the original poster artwork on the cover (which I actually prefer).

In a way, this is to VinSyn what Suspiria was to Synapse.

If you care about this film, I don’t see any reason not to grab Corruption as a stopgap. The transfer is perfectly watchable. The source has some faded color and damage, but I didn’t find it distracting at all. Frankly, even in the state it’s in, I’ve still seen worse standalone transfers from other outfits (*COUGH*Rituals*COUGH*).

Plus, Corruption is a good movie in its own right if you like adult films. Great package all round.

I am not bothered about a restoration because this film doesn’t really need to look pristine. It actually suits the film to look imperfect. (I don’t say that very often as I’m s bit of a quality freak)

From what I understand they are trying to find good elements to use for the standalone release.

I had actually gotten in contact with VS a few years ago and sent them a panel discussion from a horror con I attended with Roger Watkins that coincided with the DVD release from Barrel Entertainment. I'm just looking forward to (and hoping I can still) contribute in some small way to a release from one of my favorite labels!
