I just saw. I am super excited for Godzilla 2000. It's going to be the full Japanese cut.

Good to see you're on the case OE. Your master list is a Godsend.

I may actually have to break down and buy some of the German discs, English be damned. I can get by with German subs, but just barely.

Just recently got back into the big guy after seeing several fan-restorations of the complete Japanese Godzilla Raids Again and King Kong Vs. Godzilla.

Thanks for this list.

Since Mothra and Rodan are part of the Godzilla characters, would it be appropriate to include Rodan, Mothra, and the three Rebirth of Mothra movies even though the big G doesn't appear in them? Or maybe we could have a second list for Toho dai kaiju eiga that don't feature Godzilla?

Yeah, I'll try to get around to adding Rodan and such.

I'm jealous of the German fans. Here's hoping we hear something from Sony soon.

I don't see Sony doing jack. If they can let the rights lapse on Godzilla Vs the Sea Monster, Godzilla Vs the Smog Monster, and Godzilla Vs Gigan, why would they care? DVD sales probably didn't justify them to even go the HD route.

Lets face it if they are going to do it it will be this year. They have two chances to get it done first around the theatrical release of the new film and then when the home video release comes down the pipe. If nothing happens this year then we can completely forget about getting them in the US. I really don't want to import the German releases as the lack of English subs is a killer for me.

Well I think the chances of Sony doing anything here is about slim to none. I guess I will go back to my German roots and learn the language because Germany knows how to treat Godzilla right!

Hint: Blu-ray software to sync subs... I might have a BD-R of my German Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster backed up with English subtitles.

I have already talked myself into purchasing a multi-region player because of all the great Arrow releases in England so I might as well pick up some German Blus also. It's a shame my home country doesn't care for movies the way others do.

The German Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster Blu-ray itself is region free. However, the new German Blu-rays are from Splendid and Ghidorah was done by Ascot Elite. I don't see these nine new ones being region free.

So, according to August Ragone, there are rumors that Sony are planning to start releasing the movies they still own the rights to.

Quote:
Rumor has it — repeat — rumor has it that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be issuing four double-feature discs of their Heisei and Millennium Godzilla titles on May 6th to capitalize on the frenzy created by the release of the upcoming Gareth Edwards re-imagining of the original creature feature opening on May 16th. Each double-feature package will contain two discs, Blu-ray and UltraViolet Digital Copies, and will retail for $19.95. According to as of yet unverified sources, these are the titles dropping:

GODZILLA VS. KING GHIDORAH (1991) & GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA (1992), GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA II (1993) & GODZILLA VS. SPACE GODZILLA (1994), GODZILLA VS. DESTOROYAH (1995) & GODZILLA VS. MEGAGUIRUS (2000), GODZILLA FINAL WARS (2004) & GODZILLA: TOKYO SOS (2003).

Conspicuously missing are GODZILLA 2000 (1999), GIANT MONSTERS ALL-OUT ATTACK (2001), and GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA (2002). It's unknown at this time if these will follow, or if there is any validity to this rumor — I'm checking on sources, but it's the middle of the night... But until then, in the words of the immortal Henry Silva, "Bullshit or Not? YOU decide!"

I hope that's true. I'd love to get Final Wars on Blu but the German version doesn't appear to have English subs.

The film has aired fairly regular on Sony Movie Channel HD but it's the terrible English dubbed version.

If that's true, there are some weird pairings there. I wish they'd do GMK cause that one's DVD had horrendous subtitle translations (ex, they translated it to change it so people were HAPPY about hitting Ghidorah with a missile instead of the WHOOPS in the Japanese version!). I am most excited by King Ghidorah/Mothra 92. I sure hope that they include the japanese on Spacegodzilla/Destoroyah this time.

Yeah, the pairings make sense until the Destoroyah/Megaguirus double feature. Tokyo S.O.S. and Final Wars together makes sense as they're the last two Millennium films, but why release those before the three previous movies?

It'll (mostly) make sense if they pair GINO (I know most of us would prefer them to not include that, but it'd help them make double features out of the remaining ones as well ) with Godzilla 2000 and pair GMK with Against MechaGodzilla. That way we get 1991-1992, 1993-1994, 1995-2000, 1998-1999, 2001-2002 and 2003-2004. Aside from the Megaguirus screw-up they'd still mostly be in order of release.

Yeah
For GvsKG and GvsMothra they need to be in the OAR and widescreen not that pan and scan crap. And all the movies need to have the original credit endings, and English subs. Im probably asking for too much from such a big studio that could actually do these things if they wanted to and gave a damn

Original aspect ratio and original Japanese audio is a must. I feel pretty confident when it comes to the quality because I've got the impression Sony usually does good work in that department. And it'd be much harder for them to get away with half-assed releases now compared to when they originally released the Heisei movies on DVD. At least I hope so.
