Vinnie Jones and Luke Goss need to be in this.

Poundland's making shelf space right now for Marshall's latest opus.

Don't fancy that. "THE POWER OF CROWE COMPELS" Very good. EIV would be proud.

So much of what I buy now comes from boutique labels that it’s quite jarring to see covers like these: garish artwork plastered with critics’ quotes and stars wrapped around a blue Amaray case. No slipcovers; no reversible sleeves. And Irish film board ratings alongside the BBFC ones as the finishing touch.

It’s a real throwback to when discs were for the masses rather than collectors and connoisseurs.

And let me guess: forced trailers when you put the disc in.

Yeah, Poundland heaven. Icon and Signature (forced trailer specialist) have been dumping 100s of back catalogue titles for free on Youtube and that's where things are moving for most stuff.

These are all manufactured in Austria & Poland according to Amazon so that can't be cheap either. These labels will be using Stackry soon

I think Freud's Last Session and The Beast are definitely worth a look though. Bonello made the brilliant Le pornographe As long as Hopkins keeps away from the Widow Twankey (Hannibal) acting I will enjoy Freud's Last Session hopefully.

There's that much stuff getting released it's becoming more difficult to weed out the trash. That's if we even know about something. There's so many unknown unknowns now with film releasing.

The Beast is such a good film. Watched it last year in cinema and both Lea Seydoux and
especially George MacKay are impressive.

I see they've dumped a load of their back catalogue for free on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@KaleidoscopeEnt Some good stuff in there and obviously it means Poundland have more shelf space for things that cost more than a pound.

Baltimore was just released this year (plus The Getaway, The Crow on disc) so amazed it’s on there, some quality titles like Misery Loves Comedy, The Seasoning House, A Cock & Bull Story, Wah-Wah, White Squall, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Austin Powers, The Guest, I Kill Giants, While We’re Young, Sunshine Cleaning, Second Coming, The Good the Bad and the Weird, Death and the Maiden, A Serious Man, A Most Violent Year, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, Buried, The Family Man, It Follows, Drive, Adaptation, The Truce, Thirteen Days.

Yup lots of gems. Cock & Bull Story (great film) looks like some nasty badly framed DVD though.

Most of the other stuff is fine.

I'm guessing maybe they get 50p a view via adverts if people don't have Youtube premium so it'll add up.

Like with In This World, the DVD is open matte.

They’re also releasing Neil Marshall’s most recent bad film and a wholly fictional meeting of minds

Definitely worth a watch I reckon. Artwork's not going to help sales. There's a US Blu-ray will slightly better artwork.

Why has the Kaleidoscope and Vertigo pages been merged, they’re two different companies?

I think Vertigo have been releasing their stuff for a while but the first I noticed both names together on media was a £2.00 DVD in the British Heart Foundation which only mentioned copyright to Vertigo but the logos included Kaleidoscope.

Maybe they've combined forces.

The Exorcism has both logos too:

Well, I've decided to stick with the UK release as the US is fake Criterion (Janus Contemporaries) with 1 extra and there's already loads of great extras on Youtube. I watched them last night so I'm happy with that. Hopefully Vertigo have something.

And I like the UK cover

Got my disc it's locked B.

Had a flick through it and it looks great.

Main file is 30GB and there's no extras.

Has HOH subtitles.

That’s a shame about the lack of extras but not unexpected. Is it completely barebones or is the film’s trailer on the disc?

Extras are the exception rather than the norm for new films unless it’s a big studio title or released by a boutique.

The UK cover is indeed nicer... would be even nicer without all the stars and the rating logos of course lol.

And I assume that the film itself is the theatrical version, with the QR code at the end, and there's no end credits or the extra scene.

I don't know why no one would think to put those on the disc as a bonus feature.
