Shame that it doesn't include the full frame IMAX footage, but it's something I can live with. Does it contain the original 7.1 DTS-HD track, or has it been downmixed to 5.1 or changed etc? Because I've noticed a few Australian releases, mostly Roadshow that have done this. Though the first Hunger Games still had a 7.1 DTS-HD track, so this should too.

Yeah, very unusual. I went in today (to a few stores) to try and get it thinking it would have been on the shelve at least today but nup...

I remember JB doing this once. It was with another popular title, can't remember which one though. I think it could of been with The Avengers or the previous Hunger Games.

I highly doubt it. Given we know that the standard release from Road Show doesn't have the IMAX scenes, I highly doubt the JB Exclusive will defer in anyway but the additional special features and slipcover.

That would be too bad. If That's the case more reason to spend extra on Japan version. Hopefully mates here will confirm about JB version before I make my trip to store.

I won't complain too much, if it has a fixed 2.35:1 ratio.

Just picked it up. Haven't put the disk in yet but the case just says 2.40:1...

I'm looking for the Exclusive bonus disc on Blu-ray (with the exclusive bonus features).

I could send you guys a never played U.S. disc, which has the alternating IMAX aspect ratio.
I bought the Steelbook and the Digibook, and I only need one copy.

So this can be a trade: disc for disc. And because they're only discs, shipping should be low.

Not from me sorry. I'd rather have the extras then the Imax

There's no slipcover. Why must they do this to me.

JB Hi-Fi Cover looks really beautiful. I'm not gonna open it though as I already have the standard BR, but can anyone check to see if the IMAX scenes are on it? (Doubtful)

Edit: Also the District 12 special feature, on where it ends

Picked up the JB version today. Absolutely sucker for lenticulars, it's beautiful once taken out of the plastic sleeve.

But only just realised after I've gotten home that it's missing the silver on the blu-ray disc logo on the top of the box. Is it just my copy?

My copy is in a case like that too. Many local titles I have purchased recently have come in these Amaray's without the silver paint on the Blu-ray logo at the top.

I just noticed this in the U.S 'list of international BDs with better PQ/AQ and/or more extras' thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6149

Regardless if our local disc is missing the alternating aspect ratios, our release still has a substantially higher video bitrate to the U.S disc:

Quote:
Hunger Games, The: Catching Fire
US - AVC 1.78:1/2.39:1 20504 kbps, DTS-HD MA 7.1 5019 kbps 24-bit, film and extras on a single BD-50 (Region A locked)
JP (Premium) - AVC 1.78:1/2.39:1, Dolby TrueHD 7.1, IMAX and scope versions of film on two different discs with a 3rd disc for all extras including Target's exclusive content, no English subs (Region A)
TW - AVC 31954 kbps, Dolby TrueHD 7.1 2105 kbps 16-bit (Region free)
NO - AVC 28243 kbps, DTS-HD MA 7.1 5004 kbps 24-bit, no eng subs (Region B)
DE - AVC 19499 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2257 kbps 16-bit, no eng subs (Region B)
When the U.S release is cheaper in 6 months I'll simply buy it and stick it in the case with the Aussie disc, so I'll have both presentations in one ultimate set.

Is it completely confirmed, then, that the JB Hi-fi version also does not have the IMAX scenes with alternating aspect ratios?

Well I can definitely confirm having bought the JB Hifi version that there are no IMAX scenes. Remains 2:40 all the way through. Its possible given there are reports of Scandinavian editions also having no IMAX scenes that only the U.S and U.K editions that were released by Lionsgate have the IMAX scenes.
