I don't see anything wrong with this thread. This is a brand new release with a 4K restoration and possibly more or different special features.

Groovy. Haven't ever seen this in its entirety, just bits and pieces. Will finally pick it up.

Big fan of the TCM series here, will be getting this new release even though I can't see it being much of an improvement over the existing release, which I thought was stunning.

Bring on Parts 3 and 4.
Don't get me wrong. I've enjoyed the remake much more than I expected (Jessica - hot damn!). But I'm ashamed that I never got around to watching the original.

Yes, we do. The other one is for current release, this one is for upcoming remastered release. There's nothing wrong with that. Remastered/restored edition of Halloween, The Fugitive, RoboCop (I can do this all day ) etc. all have separate threads. Now, let's move on.

I just bought the first Blu-ray.

Will this have a massive improvement over that disc? The film is only 16 mm, do you think it'll be a drastic difference?

I was just about to finally pick up the original disc. Definitely have this one on my radar now.

I don't think she's looked hotter in anything else, personally..

[Show spoiler]
I think that we need to limit the discussion in this thread to the 1974 original version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, since this thread is specifically dedicated to the upcoming re-release of the original movie.

One of the greatest horror films of all-time. I own the DVD steelbook, but I'm upgrading for sure.

This is great news. Had never gotten around to buying the first release, so I'm glad I waited.

So did they just remix the original soundmix for the new 7.1 mix, or did they record entirely new sound effects, etc.?

It's funny how I posted the same exact thread a day ago and it was deleted by a moderator, but it's all good if God Akijama posts the same thing. Pretty pathetic actually.

That's an exaggeration.

This is nice that it's the same distributor. Gives me hope it will be the same slate of extras.

Already have the awesome Second Sight edition of this but will probably pick this up and slap them both into a two disc case (unless they release this in dual format and give me the ability of tossing the dvd of course!)
Can never have enough of this movie!

I'm 45 ... Just got around to seeing this two years ago ... Astonishingly successful creepy film.

Loved it and can't wait to pick this up.

This is one of the greatest horror films of all time, and the legend of its creation is just as enthralling. I have the current BD release and would hope they would port over the awesome documentaries included within that chronicle the struggle to make this masterpiece.

For those who haven't seen it, do yourselves a favor. It is pure visceral entertainment that leaves the viewer exhausted and thankful to be alive at the end.
