Sounds interesting! I will attempt my first challenge here. Will be tough to get to 50 but I am going to list all movies I watch this month. This will include movies I watch with my little one, some favorites some not. I will separate them into a list as others are doing. I'll sort my favorites at the end of each week. We'll see how far I can get. I think I will try to include my favorite scene when there is one I really like. Cheers!

Week 4 -
[Show spoiler]Favorite
1. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
2. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
3. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
4. Kick-Ass
5. Kick-Ass 2
6. Iron Man
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Iron Man 2
9. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
10. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
11. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
12. Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi
13. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug

Fillers
1. Delivery Man

Week 3 -
[Show spoiler]Favorite
1. LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
2. LOTR: The Two Towers
3. LOTR: Return of the King
4. The Wolf of Wall Street
5. Sherlock Holmes
6. Shrek
7. The Boondock Saints

Fillers
1. Lilo & Stitch
2. Monsters University
3. Despicable Me
4. Despicable Me 2
5. We're The Millers
6. Wanderlust

Week 2
[Show spoiler]Favorites

1. Watchmen Ultimate Cut - Lots of favorite points in this movie but I'd say the beginning of the movie with The Comedian through the opening credits of Bob Dylan - The Times They Are-a-Changing. Also love when Rohrschach says "What are you waiting for, do it, DO IT!" towards the end. The power in is voice can give you chills.
2. Dallas Buyers Club
3. Toy Story 1
4. Toy Story 2
5. Toy Story 3

Filler Movies

1. Bolt
2. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2
3. Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
4. G.I. Joe: Retaliation
5. The Terminator

Week 1
[Show spoiler]
Favorites

1. Tron: Legacy - Transition scene from the Sam Flynn riding his PK Ripper to the Ducati, music goes awesome with this scene. Close second is the scene at the End of Line club where Sam Flynn gets attacked, again music in this scene is awesome especially when Kevin Flynn drops in.
2. Inglourious Basterds - Chapter One - Once Upon a Time....In Nazi-occupied France. Don't know why but I enjoy the conversation between the SS colonel and the home owner.
3. Wreck-it-Ralph
4. Captain America: The First Avenger
5. Frozen
6. The Campaign

Filler Movies

Week 1
1. Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
2. Anchorman 2
3. That's My Boy
4. The Great Gatsby (2013)
5. Rock of Ages
6. The Internship
7. Looper
8. Jobs
9. Metallica Through the Never
10. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Just not as good as I remember it.

Rough start. Saw one movie in the first three days of this month.

But, got a long weekend. Wife took the kid to Taipei, so I should be able to bang out 9 or 10 movies while they are gone. Watched this afternoon. Say what you want about the blue tinge, this movie looks great! The detail in the close up shots is amazing.

tell me about it! So far I have watched ZERO movies. My cable company (Xfinity/Comcast) is having their "Watch-a-thon" week, where I can watch full seasons On Demand of pretty much every show on cable for free, even the pay channels I don't get like HBO, Showtime, etc. So I've been binge-watching several shows while I can!

I'll get my first movie in tomorrow morning, but then probably not much more until Watch-a-thon is over after the weekend.

That's cool. Any good TV series?

Every challenge should also have TV series as a category. Watching 10-12 hours of a season should easily count as 1 tick. I need to revisit Band of Brothers and The Pacific....and open Firefly.

Yeah I love the Watch-a-thon! Luckily I own Game of Thrones so I have seen all episodes and got the chance to watch True Dectective on HBO Go through a family member. I have been watching The Walking Dead season 4 and Black Sails. Next is Da Vinci's Demons.

Yeah you have to get True Detective in. I was hooked after the first episode and ended up watching it in 2 sittings. I haven't seen House of Lies yet but it looks good. Might check it out if I can finish Da Vinci's Demons in time.

I'm afraid it's a bit outdated - I know for a fact that my #1 pick has recently changed - but I probably won't redo it for another couple of years. I'm still pretty proud of it. Glad you like it.

Right on. You usually can't go wrong with Ghibli.

Looks like it's a dystopian double-bill this evening:

As a rental, my first time seeing it. Read the book years ago, and the movie is pretty much what I remember of it. Very bleak story told pretty well, and John Hurt was pretty awesome in this.

Decided to follow it up with:

As many times as I've seen it, I didn't think I'd want to rewatch it right now. But the instant it started, I realized it's as awesome now as always (might be that way for this entire challenge ); a very crazy and bizarre film, but also quite thought-provoking and well-crafted. Pretty solid adaptation of the original novel too. Been a favorite of mine for years, and probably always will be.

The List:

01: The Grandmaster
02: 1984 (1984)
03: A Clockwork Orange

3 films, 1 qualified as top 50 favorites

Not only do I love most of the titles, it is an honest list. Dune, Star Trek II, Sucker Punch, Conan, Christine, X2, etc are far from pretentious films.

Time to open the remastered cut. Third time to buy it on BD: single release, box set, and now this. DVD twice, VHS once...and think my dad had it on VideoDisc (CED).

Got in my first all-time favorite film for the month, inspired by this week's 25th anniversary, an EW retrospective, and Russhole's mention of it

Decided to pop this in and start a trilogy marathon, especially since I've been playing the War in the North game of late:

Yep, still as moving as ever.

Will probably follow this up with a Star Wars marathon later on (been wanting to anyway, so I can watch all the Clone Wars Seasons, which I haven't even seen yet).

The good news: got in a bunch of movies today.

The bad news: except for the aforementioned Heathers, none are on my all-time list, so I made no further progress on this challenge

Great 100 list! It's really, very diverse. Got every genre and decade covered, from classic old Thrillers, 70's Sci-Fi, 80's Comedy, to recent noisy action!

With Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation and a couple more, I expected to see Stranger Than Fiction. What did you think of that one?

Thanks man! Yeah, I tried to get a little of everything in there. I'm mostly an action/sci-fi kind of guy, but I'm open to everything in any genre.

I actually haven't seen Stranger Than Fiction yet, but I'll be sure to check it out

I love it......but it didn't make my top 50.

Usually, I don't care for Will Ferrell or Queen Layifah. Can take or leave Maggie Gyllenhaal and Emma Thompson. In this film, they all work perfectly together. I watch it about once a year.
