I suspect that...like the first one...I will get more appreciation of the depth and realism the 3D adds on my TV vs the impact it had in the theater.
I see what you're saying about the 3D. This one's 3D is good, but it could've been great if they cranked it up to strong 3D for such a big box office draw. Average 3D for an awesome action movie.

Cap wasn't bad, but Spider-Man 2 during the previews had the kids punching at the air. Looked amazing ( no pun intended).

Looks like we won't have to import this one.

Cool, and yes, a relief too. Glad we get the 3D version too. Disney has been cutting back after some big gambles at the box office didn't work out, is my guess.

Favorite action movie of the year so far, but it's a close competition. Guardians of the Galaxy should be cool too.

Agreed. I would completely purchase it there if it were on disc.

Does Amazon UK sometimes release movies earlier than the US? This site has 9/9 as the release date in the US but Amazon UK has 8/18 for their release date. Think that's an error or would they release it nearly a month in advance?

Not an error. August 18 in the UK for both regular 3D and steelbook.

A lot of movies are released abroad before they are released here.

Thanks for posting those alternate covers. I'm guessing that applies only to the 2D version? I hope the 3D version has a holographic slip off cover, though based on the past movies from Marvel, they tend to go with embossed covers only without the 3D effect.

Those covers are for the 3d version. The 2d probably won't even get a slip.

Thanks. That is surprising they're giving the 3D version such a nice option with all of the cover choices.

The next trick is for Walmart to have it in stock on day 1, as for a good number of their big blu ray 3D releases, I have heard and seen also they don't always order enough.

I predict walmart surprises us and prices this at $22 with all the slips and what not. They'll price the 2d at $19.96 and the 3d version a few dollars more. They did something similar with IM3 (that was $24 though).

The walmarts around me are always well stocked on new releases, so I'm not worried about that. Psyched for this. However their blu sections are pretty much gone. They only have a 3d section and a bin or two here or there.

They are some great cover choices but it just shows how bizarre Disney are with their treatment of 3D in America. Key releases don't even get a US release like Frozen, a film that grossed considerably more than Captain America 2, yet that movie not only gets a 3D release but one with about four different choices of artwork! God forbid Disney have any consistency.

As someone from the UK it's just as baffling from my perspective as to what rhyme or reason they are using on their 3D releases.

Question

That is true that Walmart does have its own blu ray 3D section shelf at a number of locations for the few times I go there when they have a good price on blu ray 3D.

As far as Disney, someone mentioned that they own Marvel, but Marvel's decision makers can still decide to release the Marvel films on blu ray 3D at their own free will.

Is it true that Buena Vista Entertainment (Disney) doesn't want any pre-orders up on amazon and other online sites for Cap 2 WS blu ray and 3D? I wonder what the reasoning is?

For the time being, it seems that way, though I do remember hearing someone mention that this would happen.

Here's a link to amazon apparently blocking pre orders of this film...

Amazon.com blocked the pre- order option of Walt Disney hit movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and other titles in disk form, repeating a tactic used in disputes with publisher Hachette and Warner Bros.
Having something to do with amazon demanding better terms from the distributors. I have to read the rest of it.
