Caught the early 8 PM 3d show last night. The movie was incredible. Terrific screenplay, plot twists and the action is frequently awe-inspiring and intense!
The 3d was pretty great as well I thought. Strong 3d established from the opening shot and it remained consistently on that level for almost the whole movie. The only chink in it's armor for me was that some of the shaky cam was too crazy and made the action choreography confusing to follow. And I also noticed from time to time during those sequences that there were some shaky cam shots that had no 3d applied, which weirded me out lol. That being said, I think this is one of Marvel's finest 3d movies to date and one of Stereo D's best conversions. Go see it and stick through the entire closing credits! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

the flat parts aren't always there. It's only every so often and it's some minor 2 second shots during the quick cuts. I'd still catch it in 3d and I think it's arguably a much stronger 3d conversion than Thor: The Dark World.

I will probably buy it on 3d blu-ray if the film is good to check it out. Thor: The Dark Worlds 3d did nothing for me, it was just there and obviously not intended by the film makers.

Just got back from seeing this. I wouldn't use the word incredible, but it was a good movie. Pretty good story, good action, and good 3D. The 3D in this one was one of the better uses of the technology in the Marvel movies. The 3D in Thor 2 was piss poor, they made up for it.
Previews: Spiderman - this was a different trailer than previous ones I have seen, the 3D in this trailer looked amazing. X Men - saw this before, 3D looked good. How to Train Your Dragon 2 - 3D looks excellent. |

I'll use the word awesome to describe Captain America Winter Soldier, the movie. The action scenes were incredible IMO as mseeley suggests, and I agree, the story and plot were nicely done too and I liked the darker theme and more serious tone to this film.
Liked the first one also, but this was something else. The choreographed martial arts were top of the line awesome! As for the 3D, it got the job done and is definitely on par with the first movie, but I'd call it average if comparing it to a strong 3D conversion like Pacific RIm in 2013, which would mop the floor with Captain America's medium 3D. Even so, the 3D looks good for the most part despite an even mix of medium and mild 3D shots throughout. Theater was a Cinemark 3D regular (not XD this time). Yes, also caught previews of Amazing Spider Man 2 (which has closer to strong 3D in a lot of shots for the conversion with some medium shots too, can't wait to check it out next month!), Maleficent (3D looks medium but good), XMen Days of Future Past Trailer 2 (3D looks medium, even if filmed in 3D. They didn't push it enough but I'll hold my opinion on the 3D for the whole film). Guardians of the Galaxy (upper range medium 3D, looks great). Quote:
Movie was very cool thanks to the Winter Soldier being a serious villain to contend with for the @ss kicking Captain Steve Rogers. Black Widow, Nick Fury, the guy with the wings, all great stuff. Lots of phenomenally shot action pieces here. Amazing! ![]() ![]() |

This opened last weekend in the UK and saw it at Imax. Really enjoyed the movie. I'd place it just below Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 in the MCU. It had an interesting story, good performances and fantastic action sequences. One of the problems though is this one does take itself quite seriously, but the main plot of the villains is absolutely ridiculous in its conception. That aside though this is great action movie entertainment and I loved the 3D. I loved the 3D in Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 also.

I think the hype that this one was better than The Avengers, this is the best movie in the franchise, they should have tabled that. This one wasn't better than The Avengers.
The story is good, but it was also completely predicable. Anyway you look at it, I think everyone gives this a thumbs way up.....we just differ on how good it is; but no doubt that it is dam good and should be seen immediately. |

I like the theme of the government not being what it seems, but actually corrupt underneath, no thanks to many of the people running it. Quote:

Couple things didn't make sense:
why is the Winter Soldier speaking Russian but than turns out he is [Show spoiler] Also, when [Show spoiler] I realize they couldn't extend that part of the movie for much longer, but the immediate decision to give the TOD seemed obviously fake and gave away the twist. Ok, stupid question but I will ask anyways. I am not a big theatre visitor, but was thinking of catching this in 3D for a treat. What is the difference in 3D, and IMAX? Is the IMAX worth the $16 ticket? I really enjoy 3D, and don't mind paying it at all if it is worth the added cost.

Yeah I agree, I thought it was great to see GSP in it and as you say, he was quite good. Actually all the fight scenes seemed amazing.

Was GSP the guy on the boat at the beginning? Great fight scene but it really bugged me how he almost seemed an equal physical match for Cap. Cap should have flattened him in secionds, rather than be involved in an extended fight scene.

Loved the movie. Great action, good story development, a few surprises I didn't see coming...a very fine comic book action adventure in all respects. Fully deserving of its big box office win.
The 3D was only meh for me. Some good spots, some pretty mild to unnoticeable, other parts (some of the best fights) rendered mostly irrelevant by the fast cuts and shaking camera. I suspect that...like the first one...I will get more appreciation of the depth and realism the 3D adds on my TV vs the impact it had in the theater. |
