It would be interesting to see Lawrence's Mystique undergo the gradual character transformation into a colder, cynical, and ruthless villain. I'm not sure if this necessitates a spin-off movie dedicated entirely to her, though.

In all honesty, though, the X-Men movies, while fun, have not aged well for me. I loved the first two movies upon their release, but the digital effects are quite dated now. X-Men: First Class was my favorite of the bunch, but I have a threshold for how many times I can revisit it.

On the other hand, though, the special effects in the two Fantastic Four movies are dated right now, but I still enjoy those movies. Maybe the X-Men stories just fall flat with me after viewing each film two or three times.

It's quite watchable, but it still feels small fry when compared to X2, which is probably still my favorite superhero movie since the Donner Superman.

How about team Mystique up with Gambit, Deadpool, and Venom in one film? Adding three stupid spin-off ideas passed around over the years will guarantee at least three times the financial loss?

Some people are bothered by dated or bad CGI, but something I really hate is poor costume design and in that regard First Class is one of the cheapest looking big budget films I've ever seen. It would have been lovely to do a Mad Men style take on The X-Men, but the film is full of anachronistic costuming and hairstyles and cheap off-the-rack contemporary clothes and fabrics that were not used then. And just because they are mutants and therefore wear 'special' clothes is not a good enough excuse. A particular offenderwere the contemporary baggy sweat shirts and sweat pants in the training sequence. If Mad Men can do spot-on and ultra-stylish 60s costume design on a TV budget, why not a big budget Hollywood blockbuster ?

Don't think I'd bite on this idea. There's too many other characters that have or have not made the big screen, and that carry more weight (story-wise).

There once was a time when many X-Men spinoffs were proposed – including Magneto, Gambit and Deadpool films – but none actually happened. With a new regime at Fox, the ‘X-Men’ producers want to revisit the idea of mutant spinoffs and they have a new character in their sights: Jennifer Lawrence‘s Mystique.
Because she's the sexy babe.
Elektra Syndrome strikes again.

(You would think "Catwoman" would have permanently traumatized studios out of the "Let's just do the sexy babe, that's who horny comic-book geeks REALLY came to see!" last-ditch spinoff option...)

The only reason this would ever get made is only due to who is playing the character. If this movie wouldn't get made without it's star, then it shouldn't be made at all.

Exactly. If it were Rebecca Romin they wouldn't bother. And I say that with no offense to her.

Id be down to seeing her down the road a ways in her life where her and Azazel have
[Show spoiler]Nightcrawler
and she becomes the adoptive mother to
[Show spoiler]Rogue
but I think they have already painted themselves into a corner in that regard.

I'm still curious how central Mystique will actually be to DoFP plot to actually warrant all that poster space.

Its like the time Halle Berry wanted them to do spin off movies to all of her characters like a solo Jinx movie (James Bond) and Storm.

I really hate the idea of these spin-off films. Wolverine is the only one (from the X-Men films) interesting enough to pull it off.
I remember hearing about a Magneto movie but that was pretty much told in First Class.
There's lots of characters in the Marvel Universe. Find them.

From people who've read the comics say she plays a huge part in it.

And plus they're going with the use the famous people at the moment thing to garner people's attentions.

Everybody wants a Mystique/non-Wolverine movie until they don't.

I agree with this. They aren't holding up well compared to the excellent films we've received lately. The lack of combat and underwhelming fight sequences also hurt them.
On the other hand, we may not have The Avengers had the X-Men not paved the way. Here's to hoping Singer and Co. give us a homerun with Days of Future Past. The bar has been raised.

I guess I'd be down for a Mystique movie, although I don't know if she'd make for a terribly interesting movie. I like the X-Men movies, and The Wolverine ended up being my favorite, and that was a solo movie. So who knows.

On a completely unrelated note, this is my 1000th post! So what is that, Special Member I think? I'm moving up in the world
