I have a KP-57WV700 and although the guide claims the DVI input is HDCP compliant, I have my doubts. I've used two different HDMI -> DVI cables and both work for a few minutes and then the screen scrambles.

Just a heads up

You sure it's not something else? If the manual says it then I'd assume it would be true? Is your TV newer or older than mine?

Try updating your PS3? (If you have one)

if it works for a few minutes and then scrambles...its probably a problem with the dvi port itself.

If it was not HDCP compliant you would get nothing from the start.

"If using non-HDCP-compliant DVI connection (with HDMI to DVI cable), the user will not get any picture at all."

I believe our TVs our from the same generation, mine is just a model above. The problem with the manual is that it covers 4 models...so there's no way of telling which TV has what.

My PS3 is fully updated. I do suspect the TV itself. I apologize for leaving that part out in my first post. Please post back here with your results using HDMI -> DVI. I've been meaning to schedule a service call for some time now.

Just FYI...Blu-Rays look beautiful on these TVs. I didn't know they were capable of such nice picture until I got my PS3 and Blu-Ray movies.

My manual has one WT series but the rest WS and mine is the second largest WS so I'm fairly certain that the main features are available on my TV :]

ORDERING PS3 FORM AMAZON NOW

Got a bunch of PS2 games and a network adapter gnna turn them into gamestop tmrw for hopefully atleast $30.

Ok got one more quesiton :S

In the manual it says:

"This projection TV is capable of receiving 1080i,720p,480p, and 480i digital TV formats (note that 720p is displayed as 480p)."

What does the bolded part mean? And how will that effect my PS3 experience?

its possible some 720p games will downscale to 480p...annoying, yes. But will it ruin your PS3 experience? hell no. You made a wise choice.

By the way...which version of the PS3 did you get? the 40gb PS3 has no backwards compatibility with PS2 games. (you would need the 60gb or 80gb PS3)

Enjoy bluray movies! they are the shit. (Casino Royale, Apocalypto. CARS, Ratatouille would make good first movies )

Aww that sucks so hard x_x

But to my understanding, newer games (R&C, AC, COD4) are beggining to output in 1080i, correct?

Oh well I hope I won't notice...

Also, yea I am sending them to Gamestop hopefully I get atleast $40... I have like 16 games, a controller, network adapter, component cables, maybe an eyetoy.

What's the deal with the whole 1080i/480p issue when dealing with 720p?

My HDTV's max res is 1080i, and as I understand it, most PS3 games are 720P? When playing these games, my res will go down to 480p? Is it true that newer games (R&C, AC, Uncharted, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, NBA 2K 8 support 1080i?

I read that for games like ratchet and CoD, you need to force i to recognize 1080i? How do you do this, and can you always leave the forced settings, or must you constantly change them back and forth?

Thanks
