Great article on Matthew vs. Bryan.

They believe it is a dead heat.

Bryan has 3 for this role already, but I'd love to see him tie for the record and get 4. Either way, I'd be fine with Matt taking acting if BrBa takes Drama, as it should.

Meh. I know it's the Emmy's usual nonsense so it's not worth getting butthurt but yeah, the lack of Tatiana Maslany is lame. Some of these nominations are just lazy, the same shows year after year regardless if they have an off season. Also, no nomination for Pedro Pascal in Guest Actor is a goddamn crime.

Seriously. I like the show but outside of technical noms the show doesn't deserve anything else.

I gotta agree with dj on this one Foggy. It pains me to do that lol. There is no way the final episodes weren't the strongest in the show's history. Almost every episode of the final season could be in the top 10-15 of the show's history. I can't see how the show peaking in the 1st part of Season 5 when a lot of people feel it was the weakest of the series. Look at the writing and directing noms BB got this year. That's a pretty strong endorsement that the show went out very strong.

That I agree with. If ever a break-out role was, it was his.

That said, I am elated about Lena Headey. Absolutely elated!

AHS benefits from being in the miniseries category with very little competition. If it was in the drama category it would potentially get nominations for Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates because they are Emmy favorites, but it wouldn't have a shot at anything more.

It sounds like those pesky rules need to be revisited. AHS should not be in the Miniseries category to begin with. It has more episodes than GoT...

Yeah, the problem with the Emmys is they let the networks decide how to classify themselves. Shameless was always submitted as a drama and never got any love outside the annual Joan Cusack nomination for guest actress, but this year despite having it's most serious season to date switched to the comedy category and got a nomination for William H. Macy in addition to Cusack. Orange is the New Black is much more drama than comedy, but submitted itself as a comedy and got 12 nominations. In the drama field they might have gotten half that. True Detective is pretty much in every way a miniseries. It was only 8 episodes, told a complete story, and will have a completely new cast and plot when it returns, but HBO knew with the show's star power and critical acclaim it would do very well regardless of category, so they called it a drama series and got 12 nominations.

Glad House of Cards got a lot of nominations, loving the second season at the moment.

I think either Cranston will win Best Actor or the show will win. One of those 2 will happy for sure.
I think he meant to say the final episodes weren't the strongest to him because I don't think I've ever seen a show with more critical acclaim than that last season. Game of thrones may have just ended its season but I'd hardly call it more relevant regarding it being better television.

Both were incredibly exciting and engaging roles. Gotta go with my man Cranston though because MM seemed unimpressed even when he was given an oscar.

I agree that Coven was a disappointment and not deserving of an Emmy the way that the performances and execution of Asylum were (and I'm an AHS fan), but Bates Motel really didn't have a good second season. I'd agree based on the first season, but the second season was a mess. There was nothing memorable apart from Norma's musical audition.

And AHS is a miniseries - every year is a different plot and while the core cast remain the same, there are others who drop in and out that are specific to each season.

Downton doesn't deserve all its praise. I'm British and I love Maggy and all, but of all the great British shows we've had recently, that ain't one of them. I think people just seem to fawn over it because it's a period drama, as though that makes it 'high art' or something.

Disappointed Maisie Williams didn't get a nod. Not including Pascal was a huge oversight too.

Well Breaking Bad certainly cleaned up last night! Other than The Normal Heart, and the directing for the episode of True Detective with the amazing 4-minute long shot, HBO went home empty-handed... And as much as I LOVE Sherlock, I can't believe it pulled off three Emmys! The last thing Steven Moffat needs is an ego boost. On the comedy side, I can't say too much (Modern Family seems to be the constant favourite, but I've never seen it), however The Relationship Diremption was one of the best episode of The Big Bang Theory ever, IMO, so Jim Parsons definitely deserved that one.

Well seems yes way.

I was wrong about Breaking Bad, I knew it would get a few but I wasn't expecting such a clean sweep. Fargo didn't do as well as predicted which is a shame and I was hoping True Detective was going to pick up a few more just for a bit of change, but I should of really knew the Emmys would stick to what's familiar.
