I was a bit confused by what you meant with "cardboard wrapper" until I realized this was the US section. Sorry, I meant the European box.

They currently have no plans to do DS9 or VOY but that might change in the future but IMO its a grave mistake letting the team behind TNG-R disband as they have it down to an art after 7 seasons.

Would've loved to have had All Good Things three years ago to get signed by John de Lancie here at our Comic Expo. Oh well, got a nice pic of him as Q signed.

Can't wait for Season 2, and here's hoping for a Deep Space Nine announcement soon.

When I met him about 10 years ago he didn't even have any pics of him as Q to get signed, ended up with a standard publicity shot

I'm had a happy outburst when I saw the trailers for the first time.

Bring on early December.

Looks great, can't wait. I love that standalone cover too, as Q's been a thorn in Picard's side since the beginning and I'm glad he's getting his due.

Strange how the interview footage with De Lancie looks so good in those trailers yet it looks like ass on the S6 Blu-rays (it's obviously from the same session). Ah well, 'tis but a tiny niggle in the grand scheme of things.

Is it wrong that I feel sad that TNG is coming to an end again?

That's probably all TNG will get, but whatever floats your boat man. It'd be nice if all the waiters had bought the sets to support the show so we had a better chance of getting DS9, but in the end it's your decision. I just think it's funny every TNG thread is filled with people talking about waiting for the complete series like it really matters all that much.
Yeah. While people are free to do with their hard-earned whatever they wish, it would've been great had that early sales pace and buzz been kept up, and really proved to CBS that the market for moar Trek in HD was there. But a lot of folks seem to have given up on the TNG standalones early doors and then the seasons after that. Will the inevitable 'complete collection' have any exclusive goodies? Possibly. But no such thing has been done with Enterprise (yet) and even the European box for TOS doesn't add anything, they just changed the packaging to some awkward digipaks. And what if the TNG complete set includes the standalones? Will that give people a reason not to buy that, too?

Ah. Yeah the UK gets some nicer boxes than we do sometimes. Still, it's a box around the same discs everyone else got, in the end.

Nah it's not, its been quite an adventure and we're finally near its end. I would be more than satisfied if my Blu-ray collecting days were over after this.

It is interesting there's no complete set to go along with it though, I thought they'd do them all together.

It's definitely bittersweet but we'll finally have the complete series on Blu for years and years to enjoy at our leisure.

While I know many of you are hoping for news of DS9 going Blu (and I would welcome that news as well), I'd love for CBS Digital to remaster the TNG movies next. Could you imagine a 4k remaster of First Contact!? I'd be in Star Trek heaven

That would be Paramount. I expect something in the anniversary year.

I just keep stockpiling the seasons of this show but I don't think I've had the time to watch more than two or three episodes yet . I know it's probably ridiculous to even buy them right now but I got good deals on all of them and this is definitely in the top 3 for me for best TV shows of all-time. Can't wait to finally own the whole series on Blu! Sure beats watching on TNN/Spike/G4/BBC TV channels or renting the VHS tapes from the library!

I'm in the middle of Season 4 rewatching them. No reason to rush things.

My bad. I always get the Star Trek licensing stuff mixed up. Let's hope you're right.

Exactly. Once S7 is out you'll have all the time in the world to watch the entire collection at your leisure. I'm on S6 but have not seen any of the extras since S3 and on, so I have a lot of stuff left to watch.

If they have remastered deleted scenes for the finale, too bad they aren't making an extended cut.

Very surprised they are doing All Good Things as a seperate release considering it was never meant to be seen as 2 seperate episodes but hey, if it means extra stuff can be included then I am all for it.

It is funny looking back on the releases - TNG was obviously the big series. Not only did we get 7 season but we also got 6 seperate releases like All Good Things not to mention the teaser disc. No seperate releases for TOS even though they had a good 2 part episode that could have been released, none for Enterprise. Not to mention the theatre events early on. No doubt it had the impact and CBS was willing to gamble on it and it looks like everyone won. Can't see DS9 or Voyager getting this level of treatment.

The standalones are celebrations of those particular stories and what they mean in the TNG universe, it doesn't really matter if they were single-season two parters (Unification, CoC), end-of-season cliffhangers (BoBW, Redemption) or two-hour episodes (AGT). In some ways it's a shame that they didn't put any specific extras on the original sampler for Farpoint, but I'm keeping it as a 'standalone' release of that episode anyway.

And you're right about TNG being given all this special treatment by CBS, I've said as much when talking about the DS9 HD rebuild (or rather lack thereof) in the other threads. TNG is the jewel in CBS' Trek lineup, and not even TOS remastered got this kind of lavish outlay as regards standalones, theatrical events and so on. They will certainly not do the same sort of thing for DS9, if they do it at all.

Still, seeing how the first few seasons of DS9 used the same optical effects work as TNG - or if they picked VFX-lite later episodes - there's no reason why CBS couldn't at least do an HD sampler with the same staff. As with TNG, they could use the pilot and a couple of intense later episodes. Hell, why not mirror the route they took with Inner Light and include Hard Time from S4? In the Pale Moonlight would be another excellent choice.

Last edited by Geoff D; 09-05-2014 at 10:18 AM. Reason: Inner Light, not Tapestry. I've got S6 on the brain.
