Yeah, it confuses me, too. Bay put that franchise completely in the toilet without the slightest attempt at an apology. I saw the first one, but after that, I decided "no more; he's trashed it enough". The effects were good, and I liked hearing Peter Cullen as Optimus, but everything else was one ridiculous mashup after another.

Only because there's tons of idiots out there, who don't value a solid story any more than Bay does. I really wanted to like the new "Ninja Turtles" movie, but he sent that to the crapper as well...even without directing it. If I ever meet Michael Bay, there's one question I'd like to ask him...

"Did you have to work hard to screw up previously established franchises, or does it just come naturally to you?"

Your definition of fun is apparently different than mine. I think my biggest problem with the franchise is Shia. That kid can't act worth anything.

He isn't in the fourth one though.

Honestly, regardless of who is staring in Transformers, if they just dropped all of the human actors and anything involving humans, the rest of the Transformers movies are tolerable (or even enjoyable). The CGI and eye candy is pretty badass. They should just end the pretense of having a plot or actors. As silly as that sounds, all of the "bad" parts in Transformers involve the backstory and humans. It's just worthless trite garbage, to the point where the dialogue is actually annoying/embarrassing. If the last one had cut out about 45+ minutes of scenes involving Wahlberg and the other co-stars, lessening their impact, it would have been fine. The movie had way too long of a run time, it made sitting trough the horrible dialogues very difficult.

I thought he did an okay job in "Indy 4" and "I, Robot", but lost all respect for him after hearing about "Nymphomaniac".

The problem with editing them down in such a manner is that the original Transformers concept was about how the people interacted with these giant "robots in disguise". Sam Witwicky was supposed to be the main hero of the whole thing, but Bay's film turned him into a whiny idiot only interested in girls. I'd honestly like to read the original script for that one, just to see how much was changed by comparison.

I got Transformers AoE 3d on preorder at Amazon, even though it won't be here till Fri/Sat. I really want to get 24 Live Another Day but I need to buckle down and get to saving money and paying on my credit card so it'll probably get pushed to christmas.
