How did I miss hearing about this?! And it comes out this week?!! Holy cats! Cary Grant and Jean Arthur are two of the best things that ever happened to movies! Looking forward to the upgrade!

Another Jean Arthur film comes to Blu-Ray! Oh what a happy day!

With this film and Mr Smith Goes to Washington next month, the number of her films on Blu-ray will double to a staggering 4.

Now that they've done two BD releases in the same month, maybe it's time to create a TCM Vault Collection Blu-ray thread to match the threads for other labels like the Warner Archive Collection, Twilight Time, Olive Films, und so weiter.

I forgot that this one was coming out.

I just pulled the trigger. More Rita Hayworth for my collection is a happy thing.

Oh, and...

Be careful, everyone!

Only Angels Have Wings shows up for $19.99 on the front TCM page, but that's the link to the DVD edition, not the Blu-ray edition, which is priced at $24.99.

I made it all the way to the last step of my order and was about to click "Place Your Order" before I realized that I was about to buy the DVD. I had to start all over, remove the DVD from my cart, and then look for the Blu-ray. It was sort of like a baseball game, where I was safe at the last possible second.

Do TCM exclusive titles ever drop in price? I'm interested in this, but I'm already buying enough lately between the Criterion sale and sales this week (and counting Black Friday).

Love this film! Afraid to purchase this film now since black friday is coming up. Thinking there might be a chance they have a promo code.

got mine in the mail today.
slipcover over clear case as pictured on tcm site.
same crappy shipping method of plastic sheet over item--amazingly not punctured like 2 copies of my Remember the Night were.
I consider that a miracle.

It actually dropped to $24.99 from the $29.99 I ordered it at one the first day pre-order was available. I wish TCMShop had Amazon's pre-order price guarantee.

I received mine in the mail yesterday, in a bubble wrapped mailer so it was in perfect condition. Looks great!

Well, no English subs, so TCM continues to discriminate against the hearing impaired, especially since the DVD HAS ENGLISH SUBS they could just port over. Now I'll have to rip a copy and add my own subtitle track, since some of these companies refuse to acknowledge that deaf people are might like to watch movies too. A travesty and utterly short-sighted, and a complete failure.

That's ridiculous
I have a family member who is hearing impaired
Is it really that hard to add subtitles ? Geesh
At least it only took Sony 7 years to enable Blu-Ray players to pass
Closed Captioning over HDMI

It's more difficult when there is no track already created. Then whoever is putting together the disc has to pay for one to be made. But this DVD already has subs, as did Lady From Shanghai. When I talked to someone at TCM, they said they "don't do subtitles," signaling a complete lack of disrespect for millions of people.

Not to mention non native English speakers like me, that find it easier to read subtitles than trying to understand 100% of the dialogue!

also, many of such old B&W films, I like to watch late at night after midnight.
Now, without subtitles I would have to have the volume at 100% to understand (and still wouldn't cath all of the lines), and I can't do that.

The non -inclusion of subtitles is unacceptable, and as much as I would like some films on Bluray, i won't support these releases! (as I don't support Olive films)

Just got my copy. Can confirm a MPEG-4 codec and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track. Just skimming through for now image looks spectacular.

Rather than repeat my previous diatribes about subtitles, I would humbly ask that EVERYONE please contact TCM about the lack of subtitles, and do it through as many channels as possible (call, email, letter). The more they hear from us, the more likely they are to change this asinine policy. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go rant to myself about this... (grumble, grumble, grumble...)

I completely agree with your sentiment. As for the late night viewing and noise issue, I would suggest a pair of headphones (assuming you are watching alone). I use these when I am watching late and don't want to disturb my condo neighbor next door.

Alright I just finished viewing this disc. Excellent audio and video presentation. Elements look to be a great shape. A very nice grayscale and rich blacks. Detail is excellent for this Sony 4K master with no digital filtering or sharpening. Grain is handle very well with this encoding.

Easily a 5 star rating for PQ/AQ
