This extended version is exactly the same print as the ITV dvd. It's not up-scaled. They just put the same print on the blu-ray disc.
Disc 1 is the same quite decent print which you can found from Shout blu-ray. I would say that Shout is little bit better, but the differencce is minor. Extras are nice, but they are not worth of that high price. At least they should say that they are selling a dvd on a blu-ray!
Beyond the packaging and extras Imprint are a joke of a label. I would prefer they concentrated on the compression issues as a decent transfer in a “no frills” case would be better than what they currently churn out. Most of their transfers have been questionable at best, combine that with import costs and there really is little saving grace.

I am surprised anyone gives their releases the time of day anymore, especially when Paramount have better PQ. Every release I have bought from Imprint that has subsequently been released by another party has fallen short with regards to PQ. Compression being the main culprit but far from the only one.

Even Shout! and Kino manage to pleasantly surprise us once in a while.

I have three of their titles (WWC, HE, & TOW) left in the collection. WWC looks slightly better than the Par release some of the time but isn’t consistent and HE hasn’t been released anywhere else…yet. TOW was bought for curiosity's sake due to the inclusion of SP’s DC and if I had to guess, may come from Arrow à la MD in which case the Imprint release will be tossed to the curb like last nights stale kebab.

Are we supposed to know what any of those abbreviations mean?

I wouldn’t say their slips are the best either, due to the glossy type of card used and the all caps brief synopsis on the back.

It’s not rocket science to you, because THEY'RE YOUR BLUS. How about just writing the actual titles?

FML does your mother still spoon feed you? How about recognising you are in a film collectors forum with all the tools at your disposal for a little detective work?

You can easily see my collection and search by title or you can cross reference the Imprint releases with the acronym used.

If you weren’t snarky you would have received a better reply to your request.

Why should we have to do 'detective work'? Get off your high horse & write a full sentence.

In you parlance, FMGWAC.

PC probably has better graphic design, art cards, poster, booklet, digital code and is less likely to be stuck with an old master, though never really does new extras.

I meant the slipboxes more than anything else. The HMV feel better made. The majority(?) of HMV’s seem to be WAC which has always favoured PQ and AQ above all else, so make a nice set when tarted up by HMV. I had Imprints Hammer TV set (lovely looking packaging wise) and compared it to the Network release. The Network was superior PQ. If Network lay of the DNR button, even their light touch, i’d be happier but they could be worse.

Thinking about it, there such thing as a flawless boutique anymore? One that is constantly good 100% of the time. Also, attitudes to QC vary wildly too.

The UK steelbook has the extended version on BD, but it's 1080i (sped up) and not always HD looking for the extended scenes.

You make some excellent points there Sir. Initially I became caught up in the hype of Imprint, but became disenchanted with their failure to provide new restorations for their releases. Additionally, it seems that many of their movies tend to be released by Kino at a later date with completely new transfers. "The Hunter", "Warning Shot", "Secret of The Incas", and "The Counterfeit Traitor" are amongst some I can think of.

I have the Shout version, and it is Region B compatible.

My BD player is Region B only and the Shout version plays perfectly on it.

It is not pretty, but as someone who did not own the movie in any fashion I am quite happy with it.
The extended version may take up 37GB of space and be an AVC encode but it most definitely IS an standard definition upscale. It's not high definition, it looks like a re-encode of the DVD transfer with some noise reduction put on it.

What a disappointment, Imprint should be more upfront when they put something that's NOT high definition on a Blu-Ray disc. The fact they encoded it as if it were a true HD file probably means they weren't even aware of it, but it's a waste of data space since none of the extra bit rate makes the transfer any better than DVD.

Agreed, but I believe the Warning Shot is the same transfer that Kino used for their release.

My 2 favorite box sets are from Imprint. Silver Screams and Essential Film Noir #2. Great PQ, great extras, great packaging. Zero complaints on those. Can't speak for other releases, though.. Are these exceptions to their quality?
