I'm excited! It's a big franchise, so I'm sure they'll take extra care with it and not churn out a money-grabber sequel (even if it is just getting made because of how popular and profitable it is). WDAS has made a comeback with making fantastic films the last few years, so I'm not worried.

I want a sequel. Loved Frozen. I'm not worried about getting one. It will happen for sure.

Frozen 2 Officially Announced!

In one of the biggest non-surprises of the decade, it was officially announced today that Frozen 2 is in the works at Walt Disney Animation with the first film’s directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho returning.

The news was announced at Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders this morning by Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios; and actor Josh Gad, who provides the voice of Olaf from Frozen.

A release date and production details are on ice for now. A short film based in the world of the popular animated movie, “Frozen Fever,” is attached to Cinderella which will debut in theaters tomorrow.

Frozen was released in November 2013 and went on to gross over $1.2 billion at the global box office and two Academy Awards.

Thanks Walts, for the heads up. Glad to see them sticking with the same directors.

I wonder if they will tie into parts of the Once Upton a Time storyline. Even in the slightest?

There was no way the biggest animated movie ever wasn't getting a sequel, and I'm actually a little surprised it's taken this long for the sequel to get green lit. If a struggling company like Dreamworks Animation had made the movie they would have immediately started working on the sequel once the original was a hit, but fortunately Disney can afford to take their time.

Excited? Meh

I enjoyed Frozen quite a bit, but I'll get excited once I hear what they are doing story wise.

Wasn't easily impressed like others were from the first film. Much prefer films like Tangled, Big Hero 6, Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, Wall-E, and the list goes on and on.

Kudos to Disney for promoting the hell out of the original, and now the animated short before the new Cinderella.

The original was good but not as great as people made it out to be. A bit strange it took this long to announce it tho. I'll sure this sequel will make a killing at the box office

How are they going to get people to like it? The prince actually being bad plot twist and and true love being sisterly love plot twists have already been done.

Not that I'm really surprised, but was getting a tad concerned when the directors recently flat out said they had no plans on making another.

I realize a lot of people here aren't huge fans of this, but when you have two young daughters who unconditionally LOVE Frozen, you just cant wait to see the excitement in their faces when they get to watch another one!
