Disney Frozen II (2019)

Quote:
In September, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced that a new animated short, titled Frozen Fever, was coming to theaters in Spring 2015, but what about a sequel to the 2013 blockbuster? Frozen is the No. 1 animated hit of all time (and fifth of all time of all movies) with $1.274 billion earned at the worldwide box office. In addition to that achievement, merchandise is still selling like crazy, there’s a rumored stage musical in the works and there’s a new attraction coming to the Norway Pavilion in Epcot that will replace the Maelstrom ride. And let’s not forget that the Frozen characters are now also appearing on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” in the Disney On Ice shows, and in Disney’s theme parks as well.

In other words, Frozen is everywhere, yet Disney has not said anything about the possibility of another movie. Now, however, it appears that Elsa herself, Idina Menzel, might have slipped up and mentioned the sequel. Talking with The Telegraph, the interviewer mentioned the upcoming short and the rumors of a sequel and stage musical. What could she say about them? “That they’re all in the works, ha ha!”

She was then asked if she was signed up for all of them. “Ah, yeah sure… Not the stage show – I don’t know what will happen with that – but the movie hopefully. We’ll see. I’m just going along for the ride,” she added. Menzel could just be talking about the short, but she did specifically say ‘movie.’

Walt Disney Animation Studios currently has an untitled movie scheduled for November 2018, but we’ll have to wait and see if that will be another feature-length story with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf.

I loved Frozen; however, I think they should just leave it alone. Lightning in a bottle...a sequel is bound to disappoint.

Once Upon a Time has already been doing a kind of sequel. I wonder if it counts at all, since it's all Disney?

Frozen is expected to overtake Barbie as the top selling toy line for girls this holiday season. There's no doubt there will be a sequel.

I wouldn't be against it as long as they put forth their full effort toward it. Don't want something half-assed just to bank off.

I liked Frozen a lot more than Big Hero 6, but yet I'd rather have a sequel to Big Hero 6 than Frozen. It's just more fitting for it, where as Frozen works better on it's own.

There was a news story from a couple months back that basically came down to, "We'll do it if we have the story," and I believe it when I hear that -- Disney has been absolutely killing it lately with WDAS. They could easily pump out Frozen 2, 3, 4, and make billions, but they have the artistic integrity to go forward with it only if they can make a sequel as good as the first.

Of course, they're a business, and businesses love money -- especially when they could make it as effortlessly as they could with Frozen 2. But they're making tons of cash with the merchandise, they don't "need" to invest more than 300 million to make another movie.

I'd love a Frozen 2, as long as it's as good as or better than the first. proper story for the sequel.

Geez I still need to watch the first one. I bought it last year and haven't touched it. Guess I need to get on that.

As a fan of Frozen I'd never turn down more. Although I mostly want more Georgina Haig and Elizabeth Lail as Anna and Elsa in a Once Upon A Time spin-off.

Tom Hanks said Toy Story 4 was happening, and then backtracked after the fact. A movie doesn't make $1B and not get a sequel. I think she just spoke too soon.

E.T.? Probably close to a billion in adjusted dollars, and there's never even been an inkling of a sequel.

Ever heard of E.T. Nocturnal Fears???

Agree though, just leave it. It's bad enough we've had the terrible Pixar sequels (save Toy Story 3).

There was inklings of a sequel to E.T. But in this day in age, it's incredibly rare for a movie that does this well to be left alone. Don't be surprised if or when it happens. Like I said, Hanks let it slip a long time ago, backtracked, and then it turned out Toy Story 4 was a real thing. Wouldn't be surprised if the same happened here.

I like Tangled better. But if they can make a sequel that makes money go for it, even if it is not as good, also it will make a lot of money in merchandizing. That just gives Disney more money to use for other things. If Disney ever wants to get the movie rights back to the other Marvel characters they will need the money, I would expect the 3 remaining franchises to cost a combined $4 billion which is what they spent for the rest of Marvel. The extra money will also offset losses from other movies (John Carter which I liked).

Call me crazy, but I'd much rather Disney just make good films...the profits will come naturally if they are worth it.

Just like Toy Story and Shrek, there is no reason to ignore making good sequels.

Out of all the Disney fairytale movies, besides different adaptations of the same character throughout history, which ones had more adventures in the books - if any?
