On the face of it, it would seem very odd that the original BEACH PARTY isn't being released. I would have to guess that Olive took the only films that they were offered at this time.

Right now, Kino and Shout/Scream are also releasing the old AIP/MGM/Midnite Movie flicks. I'm sure if Olive was offered BEACH PARTY, they wouldn't have said, "No, we'll take MUSCLE BEACH PARTY instead". That just doesn't make sense. Either the others were not offered to Olive or perhaps HD masters weren't yet available. If the other Beach Party movies are ready for BD, they'll eventually make their way to Olive, Kino or Shout.

I just have to believe that BEACH BLANKET BINGO and MUSCLE BEACH PARTY were the only films made available to Olive...for now.
That is probably why the weird choice, I know that an HD master is ready for Pajama Party because I seen it on Netflix. The reason I know it is a new HD transfer is because it looks way better than the old DVD from the early 2000's... In the opening title sequence there was a big tear in the film and on Netflix it was repaired and looked 100% better all around. So I don't know what the deal is there. I sure hope that Olive does get the rest and release them promptly because usually they do a good job on their BDs and give original artwork. I hate older films with new looking artwork, I make custom covers for those.

I think many would say that GHOST IN THE INVISIBLE BIKINI is the least good film of the series. As for me, I want them all on Blu-ray!

I'd like to see the original GIDGET on Blu as well, in full CinemaScope. Ironically, both GIDGET GOES HAWAIIAN and GIDGET GOES TO ROME have been remastered, but prevailing prints of GIDGET on TCM remain substandard.

How weird, because on MY MGM Midnite Movie Double Feature DVD, I have BEACH BLANKET BINGO & HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI.

I would prefer WILD BIKINI over MUSCLE BEACH PARTY. Seems like THAT would be the obvious choice to me.

...
The Midnite Movies double feature pairings were pretty random with no inherent connection.

Most (not all) of the movies on the double features had previously been released as single DVDs.

I have BEACH BLANKET BINGO on a DVD released in 2001. I've got HOW TO STUFF A WILD BIKINI on another DVD released in 2003.

The double feature DVD was released in 2005.

I think that PAJAMA PARTY (and maybe SKI PARTY as well) is one of the few that was only available as a stand-alone release.

I agree, but Who knows they may have the rest in the pipeline, and just decided to release these first, one strong and one weaker title, most fans will pick them up anyways. I want them all.

Six years later -- Is Olive planning any more AIP Beach Party movies on Blu-Ray? So far we got Beach Blanket Bingo, Muscle Beach Party, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini, and two Dr. Goldfoots).

I'd really like 'em all (Beach Party, Bikini Beach, Pajama Party, Ski Party, The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini, etc.).

Also Columbia's Ride the Wild Surf.

Olive hasn't done any releases in a while, not to mention any MGM titles aside a reissue of Hair. Plus, the AIP beach movies Olive and Kino put out were such extremely poor sellers, that they ended up not going after the others MGM had and also dropped a couple they had in title packages.

Sorry to hear about them being poor sellers. I would love to have more on BD.. mostly "Pajama Party". The dance to the title song at the pool alone makes it worthwhile. So fun.

Gave this one a watch recently, and what an insane potpourri of a film. The highlight here is Timothy Carey acting beyond creepy and insane in every scene he's in. If you gave someone a pop quiz and told them to imagine what a serial killer would be like, it would probably resemble ol' Tim in this fun and frothy beach movie.

The combination of Tim Carey, Paul Lynde, and Don Rickles make this one very special. Plus it's a beach movie - about skydiving!

I'm sure that series fans are already aware of this, but both BIKINI BEACH and PAJAMA PARTY have recently been released by Allied Vaughn/MovieZyng as Blu-rays.
