It took me 15 minutes to open my first 'locked' case! I had no idea ... to my credit I did accidentally stumble on to the hiding the clasp method! Just two loud clicks at the top and bottom of the clasp and it's hidden for good!

I don't think they were ever designed for anti-theft reasons, just a deterrent to kiddies.

This is one of the many reasons I replace eco cases with Viva Elites rather than Vortex cases.

Thanks for the post & info. - I honestly never knew this; agree that the flap, while looking aesthetically somewhat cool, doesn't really add much to the Blu case. I didn't want to break it off however, since it would have marred the case.

That being said, on some regular DVD cases I typically will break off those two plastic tabs that are on the top & bottom sides - I find those annoying & pointless. Sure, by breaking them off the case is somewhat "incomplete", but that beats having to open & close these flaps each time you open the case - plus, they were typically so flimsy they would sometimes break off on their own anyway...

I have actually gotten movies sealed from stores that already had the flap folded in, I knew about it for a while but I actually like the lock because then if the movie is dropped it is less likely to pop open and have the disc fly out

Buy my cases from discmakers and they come with the flap already locked down.Have for years. I personally like these cases better because they actually have plastic on the front back. Unlike the Eco cases with the huge recycling hole without plastic.

I've replaced all of my Vortex cases (and eco cases) with Viva Elites, save for District 9 and The Artist since the Viva Elites won't fit the slipcovers.

I just tried out on 2 recent BD purchases; 'A Boy & His Dog', worked perfectly! & 'Swamp Thing', didn't work.

I don't like the flap bc most BD cases don't have it & I always forget it is there & try to open case & then realize it has the locking flap & must 1st unsnap it. Also, some few don't lock in place so, it is always partially open. I love this (mostly unknown) fix!
People really didn't know that?

I've even had some cases come with it already folded and clipped in, although most cases come without that flap to begin with.

I've got bigger problems to worry about than this.
