![]() I hope there will be official nintendo component cables, and hope it will not dissapear like game cube's did. Then Nintendo will remove the feature in future versions of the Wii. If you got an HDTV, even if 480p is sub HD, It will look significantly better than 480i. Expecially on composite cables. Composite causes color bleeding and loss of detail from the chroma (color) being embeded into the Y signal (black and white). S-video is better as it seperates the Y and croma. Thus less color bleeding and higher contrast. Component is the ultimate as it splits croma it to to parts Pb and Pr. thats why component is often refered to YPbPr. Even at 480i, component is superior to those standard composite cables that came with all consoles since SNES days. Still Wii will change people's veiw about games. That Xbox 360 and PS 2 controler that young inexperienced gamers are used to, have been developed over battle tested ideas from Nintendo. In fact the most gimicky feature into day's contolers, the rumble feature was first done by Nintendo in Starfox 64. Now every freaking contoller has rumble feature. Sony has motion detection, it's just a matter of time befor MSFT does it too. Already nintedo is evolving games beyond just superfical graphics that fade over time. It's evolution that lasts forever. |

Places like these: www.monoprice.com www.ramelectronics.net Hard to see paying $50 a pop for good cables after you've spent a couple of minutes on those sites. Quote:
What do you think? This is the same Nintendo that put out a $50 Broadband Internet adapter, supported it for one game officially, and it took fans to create War Pipe out of frustration when this same BBA was consigned to the same huge mountain of unsupported and useless peripherals dating all the way back to R.O.B. Why? Because somehow, in Nintendo's world, the Internet was still a niche fad that wasn't going to catch on even a few years back when the BBA came out. It's just like in their world now, HD and Dolby Digital both are STILL niche fads that "aren't going to catch on." ![]() Quote:

I'm not sold on hype. I'm sold on results. Here's one thing Nintendo is taking a gamble on: Gamers, by and large, are lazy. We all like to sit around, be bums, and play our games. I am just trying to imagine a group of 10 years olds playing one of these Wii games while they're both using one of these gimmicky devices. They're going to be waving their arms all over the place and there's going to be mass destruction and chaos! ![]() Beyond that: I just don't see a lot of these gamers wanting to be bothered with the necessary endurance and dexterity one would need to use this device for any prolonged gaming sessions. I just don't see it. Quote:
Nintendo was the pioneer and others arguably improved on many of their original ideas. We all know this! Quote:
But the difference is: Nintendo would throw a bunch of crap at the wall to see what sticks and/or just not be bothered to continue trying to support something, whether it be that rumble feature you talk about...or a $50 Internet Broadband Adapter for the GC, as another example. ![]() Quote:
Nothing new here. Quote:

You're making declarative statements in present, or even past tense, about the future as if it has already happened, when it clearly has not. A year or two from now, maybe it'll be as you stated here. But not yet. I'll believe it when I see it. |

i already have DVD player, there is no need for Wii to play DVD's.
Infact I, got Xbox 1, and PS2, however i still use a standalone DVD player for movies. Console playback is a good idea when the media is still new. Just like PS3 and Blu-ray. however I will bet that anyone who buys PS3 will one day buy a standalone Blu-ray player. Because PS3's Blu-ray playback will not be on par with a standalone player, and that's exactly how PS2, Xbox 1, and Xbox 360 is with DVD movies. Why would Wii need to play DVDs when everyone has a standalone DVD player ? ![]() |
