Not sure if I'm going to get the target exclusive or the 3d version.

I'm debating whether or not I should get the 3D Combo Pack or the GoHastings.com exclusive Steelbook... It's really nice!

Briefly checked out portions of the SpongeBob 3D Blu-ray while I was verifying features for my feature documentation list.
The 3D is excellent!
It looks as strong as the cartoons from the View-Master reels I had as a kid.

Edit: also Verified the Blu-ray 3D is region-free.

Bought this today. I could not get past 15 minutes of this god awful movie. The 3d starts off impressive but not so much once it goes into cartoon only mode. IMO this type of animation does not fare well in 3D. Selling mine on ebay.

This is a cartoon /CGI hybrid

The switch from cartoon to full CGI 3d starts starts around the 1 hour mark & lasts about 20 mins. , then goes back to 3d cartoon.

The 3d in this blu-ray release is gorgeous just like it was at the theater. I wish all 3d releases were full screen like this. This is a prime example of the 3d version being visually (and therefore experience-wise) far superior to its 2d counterpart.

Yes, the CGI part of the movie had excellent 3D. I just don't care for the type of animation that was used. Not sure what it is called, hand drawn maybe? Also I did not care at all for the story. It is actually the first 3D movie that I bought that I don't care to keep and I have 115 3D movies.

For me, the old-school cartoon look having strong 3D adds to the familiar original drawn characters and is what I find most fresh and invigorating for a change, especially when physical-like CGI forms are also there when with real-world people.

The "Deleted Scene: Thank Gosh It's Monday" from the "Extra" menu-choice reminds me of the 3D work in Disney's village scene "Beauty and the Beast 3D" The difference is evident in the updated more-powerful animation techniques experienced in group scenes of characters (in SpongeBob) where the characters have animated motion all the way to farthest figures in depth. The character drawings farthest-back in Beauty and the Beast in the village scenes were stationary.

The only drawback to this movie is that the plot loses direction in the middle and I kept thinking this movie will never end.

Finally got to this tonight! One of the best 3D presentations I've ever seen...crystal clear transfer, eye popping color, excellent depth...and a fun movie to boot!

Thanks. While I wish the whole movie was cel animation 3D (traditional), the CGI look was well done and the 3D looks solid in the trailer.

Agreed. I watched it last night and the 3D was impressive. Not too many gimmicky extreme pop out moments, but depth was there and things did stick out/come out of the screen. The most impressive part is toward the end where there is a "chase" sequence and the characters are back in live action mode on the surface once again - the 3D here is noticeably dialed up a few notches more

The cartoon parts 3D weren't as good as the live action CGI parts, but they weren't flat by any means either. I will say I am a fan of the dolphin now
