Home releases on 3d Blu here in New Zealand and Australia on Wednesday 8 July.....I'm continuing my mission to support 3d BR home releases and have already placed my order...I Never saw it in theatres and it never seemed to get any mentions anywhere (good or bad) so don't really know what to expect.

I'll give a little feedback when it arrives....
Chris

Watched this tonight. Really nice little film, the voice acting from the Big Bang guy was really good and fitted the character well.

I thought the 3D looked beautiful and was very natural and added a lot to the film, so once again I would disagree with the site review.

It's probably a long shot, but does anyone know if wal mart got the 3D version of this, and if so, how much is it?

Thanks!

Well not sure how the 3D is but for anyone on the fence I thought this movie was terrible.

I also did not care for this. Definitely for the 6 year and under crowd. 3D was barely just OK

Loved it. The 3D was kind of inconsistent.

I though Home was OK, but I found the soundtrack and some of the voice acting far more annoying than I thought I would. Bonus points for casting Steve Martin, minus points for casting Rihanna (and polluting the soundtrack with her songs).

As for the 3D, I was expecting much more from Dreamworks. It was still better than bottom-of-the-barrel Disney 3D, but not really by that much.

Home IMO, is DreamWorks mildest 3D production. They were top on the list until this for a Golden Era 3D experience. Can't these Hollywood studios learn something from China and their Strong 3D trend having extraordinary 3D SUCCESS?

This is a full screen spectacularly rendered 3D fest. The story is below average even for Dreamworks.

even the Atmos mix was a lost pointless cause.

I blind bought this because it was 3d and I try to support that and figured it couldn't be that bad. I was wrong. This was def. all for very young children. Usually there is a layer of adult humor and intelligence but it was not found here and it mostly annoyed me except for the cat. It's a pretty and colorful film, that's a positive, but the 3d was just average. I regret buying it and couldn't recommend it to anyone without young children.

I liked it as well, and agree the 3D could've been better, still glad I own it as I will get repeat viewings out of it.

Thanks!
My WM used to get all the new 3D releases, but lately it appears they are only getting one out of every 3 new 3D releases. Home was not available in 3D at my WM.

Thread title needs updating. I just bought the Turkish edition (or a European edition sold by a Turkish seller) and it's sadly locked to Region B. Time to reconsider buying that region free mod kit for my Oppo...

Thanks, thread updated. Most editions seem to be region free (see http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparison....php?fid=32846) so it's a shame you ended up with one that's locked. Can you tell if it is actually Turkish or an import from elsewhere?

These things happen! I'm the lone weirdo that likes having foreign titles/spines/covers etc in their collection, and the ironic thing is that this was similar to the price for the US edition, doesn't actually have Turkish language anywhere on it like I'd hoped, and took 3 weeks to arrive lol . I literally brought this on myself so whatever.

I'm pretty sure it's the same copy that you would buy in Turkey, although I believe the situation in Turkey is kind of unique because you have a few releases I've seen with legit Turkish language covers, then you have some that seem like more generic European releases with English covers, but they have Turkish stickers added to the case under the shrinkwrap? So I think they're technically Turkish releases regardless.

Finally picked up a region appropriate version of this movie. Second try from a seller on eBay, got the 3D case with no 3D disc. Third time was the charm

This movie is one of the many I've picked up recently on a whim after exhausting all the 3D movies with 'good' RT reviews that pleasantly surprised me. It's not flawless, and it has some elements to it that could be grating to some viewers like its kind of arbitrary poppy soundtrack, but it's actually a lot more emotionally intelligent than you might expect from the reviews of it, and has some pretty successful humour despite its occasionally awkward script.

The one thing I found really fascinating about this film is that the animation seems almost... off for a 2015 dreamworks movie. I did my research and it seems to have an average budget for an animated movie, and yet the lighting and detail work in the animation seems a step back from releases by the same studio even from years earlier. Parts of the animation are exquisite, like the hair on the main human character, which makes the cheap lighting and environment work stand out even more.

The 3D is on the more conservative side for a Dreamworks release, as others have noticed, but still has more to offer than the average Pixar effort, and adds a lot to the movie in its full widescreen aspect ratio. Would highly recommend picking this one up if you don't have it.
