That'll happen when it's in less theaters, and put out by a smaller studio.

You got me!

I'm actually planning to see it with one of my remaining Insurgent passes on Tuesday, for a double feature with Ex Machina. Interesting back-to-back.

To be fair it's going to have a pretty solid weekend and a pretty good average. Could go on to be A24's highest grosser unless Avengers totally kills it.

With Age of Ultron out next week it'll really be forgotten. At least its doing better business than Under the Skin, so thats a plus.

Apparently Little Boy ends with the little kid praying to God to end the war which leads to the nuclear warhead being dropped on Hiroshima.

To quote the middle aged couple leaving Ex in front of me....
Woman: That was such a piece of sh*t.
Man: .......yep.

Ex Machina is doing well, so far, it seems. Over $3M domestic, over $10M worldwide total. Right now it's 6th in domestic gross for A24. It won't ever pass Spring Breakers, which had over $14M domestic. But it should end up somewhere in the Top 5.

1. Spring Breakers $14M
2. The Spectacular Now $6.8M
3. The Bling Ring $5.8M
4. A Most Violent Year $5.7M
5. While We're Young $4.6M
6. Ex Machina $3.2M

The little studio that could.

I swear, I JUST checked and it was still at the $3M+ total. Now, literally two-three minutes later, I reload and you're right. HA!

So, $6.9M domestic, about $14M worldwide.

Updated list:

1. Spring Breakers $14M
2. Ex Machina $6.9M
3. The Spectacular Now $6.8M
4. The Bling Ring $5.8M
5. A Most Violent Year $5.7M
6. While We're Young $4.6M

I still don't think it will pass Spring Breakers, but #2 is certainly nothing to sneeze at!

A24 is easily one of, if not my favorite studios. And Under The Skin isn't even not that list.

Ex Machina did great in its expansion. Far more than I predicted. I love A24. They have a lot of quality films. Hope they stick around and that they can keep having some successes.

Will be interesting to see if it can beat Spring Breakers. I do think they'll add some theaters next weekend.

A lot of great holds this weekend. I'm dreading next weekend when everything gets crushed by Avengers.
